It is not too late to apply, as there is an extension in the last date to submit online applications for the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.) at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), New Delhi. Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), New Delhi has announced an extension in the last date to submit online applications for the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.) program for the academic session 2020-21. It is also permitting students from all streams to apply for this course.

About NSUT

Earlier known as the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), New Delhi offers UG, PG and PhD programs in the fields of engineering and management. On its spacious Wi-Fi enabled campus is hostel accommodation facilities for boys (four hostels) and girls (two hostels) as well as for administrative officials and staff. Indoor and outdoor facilities for sports, a shopping centre, a post office, a bank, a medical clinic and other facilities are also available. The academic blocks include classrooms, labs, workshops, seminar rooms, drawing halls, conference rooms, etc. The large central air-conditioned library provides online access to reputed national and international journals and magazines. Recreational, literary and automotive clubs are always buzzing with activities and students not only participate in college fests with zeal but are also part of community service initiatives as well. An incubation centre to encourage startups and mentorship events are highly beneficial for students.



About NSUT B.F.Tech. course

The two-year B.F.Tech. course has the below-mentioned semester-wise learning units, which include practical sessions and, in some units, case studies and mini-projects as well.

First semester

Communication Skills: You will acquire good English verbal and written skills, with practical sessions to enhance vocabulary, overcome the fear of speaking in public, etc.

Elements of Fashion Design: You will understand the concepts, principles and terminology used in a design, including of colours, shapes, and silhouettes with practicals to understand the arrangement and pigment of colours and their effects. Learn about fashion designing courses in India.

Textile Science I: You will gain knowledge of fabrics, yarns, fibres, dyes, prints, etc. The practical sessions in the lab will include studying swatches, textile sensors-based case studies, etc.

Sketching and Rendering: You will be introduced to the art of sketching that is required for fashion illustration, learn free-hand drawing techniques, how to develop blocks for block figures, etc The usage of dry and wet colour mediums will be taught in the lab sessions.

Evolution of Fashion: You will learn how fashion evolved through the various eras right from its origin, including a study of the costumes, jewellery etc that were part of different times in Indian history. Case studies and mini-projects will incorporate artificial intelligence and biotechnology.

Second Semester

Basics of Fashion Design: You will familiarize yourself with the basic concepts and principles of garment designing, including learning what is the suitable fabric and colours to be used, accessories, etc.

Textile Science-II: You will understand how technology has created an impact on various fields, including on fabrics and apparels such as protective clothing. You will learn about raw materials, spinning and yarn processes, cutting techniques, etc.

Garment Manufacturing Technology: You will learn the tools and equipment used in manufacturing garments, get familiar with cutting techniques, know about the departments and functions that form a garment unit, etc. In the lab sessions, you will be familiarizing yourself with hand sewing and industrial sewing machines, the needles and threads used, etc.

Fashion Illustration: You will learn to use varied art mediums to sketch and draw fashion figures and what goes into the creation of a fashion portfolio. In the practical sessions of fashion illustration , you will work on a presentation of a reputed fashion illustrator, draw a figure of a model from a photo, etc.

Graphics Design 2D: You will develop skills in various 2D computer apps, such as Photoshop, CorelDraw, etc and create various graphics.

Pattern Making: You will learn the various aspects of pattern-making, such as drafting and draping, know about the importance of measurements in fittings and styles, etc. In the practical sessions, you will understand the importance of chalk markings, thread tracing, etc.



Eligibility requirements for B.F.Tech. course

Students from all streams who have passed the Class 12 exam of any recognized Central or State Board in the 10+2 stream with minimum 60% aggregate marks are welcome to apply for the B.F.Tech. course. Refer to the official brochure to know the relaxation in the min. aggregate marks for reserved category candidates. Those who acquire a rank in a national level fashion technology or design entrance exam of a four-year course of any Central Govt.-funded institute or university for the session 2020-21 will be given preference.

Age criteria: There is no minimum or maximum age criterion.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted online only at the official Netaji Subhas University of Technology admissions portal. Register first with a valid email ID and mobile phone number. There is a non-refundable registration-cum-counselling fee of Rs.1000/- (plus transaction charges as applicable) to be paid online.

Take a printout of the submitted online application for future reference.

The last date to submit the online application has been extended to 31st August 2020.

After seat allotment

The NSUT website will display the result of seat allotment as per the Counselling Schedule. The allotted seat is only provisional and subject to verification of original certificates and payment of the University admission fee online before counselling. The full amount of the admission fee for the course (see details below) has to be paid online only via any of these options - (i) Netbanking (ii) Credit Card (iii) SBI-Collect (iv) NEFT. The fee will not be accepted in the form of a DD or cheque or cash payment. You are advised to check the official brochure to know the list of documents that you will be required to submit at the time of counselling, both the original and self-attested copies.



NSUT B.F.Tech. course fee

The total fee to be paid for the first year before counselling/documents verification process is Rs.1,90,000/-. The fee for the remaining three years of B..F.Tech. course is-
  • Second year: Rs.2,60,000/- for the academic year 2021-22.
  • Third year: Rs.2,19,000/- for the academic year 2022-23.
  • Fourth year: Rs.2,29,000/- for the academic year 2023-24.

Refund of fees: You can withdraw the admission through a request submitted through the NSUT website. The last date of withdrawal with a penalty of Rs. 10,000/- is 3rd September 2020, that is, prior to the fourth round of counselling. The fee refund will be processed within 30 days after the closure of the admission procedure.
