KMAT 2020 or Karnataka Management Aptitude Test is an entrance test for admission to management programs in more than 189 AICTE approved or university affiliated management colleges in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) will conduct this test on all India basis. Along with applicants from Karnataka, candidates from other states as well as overseas students can also appear for this test. KMAT is being conducted ever since 2003 for admission to various business schools in the state. Some of the renowned institutions that accept KMAT scores are MS Ramaiah, MP Birla Institute, Acharya Institute of Management and Sciences, IFIM Business School, Alliance University, PESIT, Mount Carmel and a lot more. Mode of test
All these years, KMAT has been a paper and pencil single session test. As a result, at many places, the website still mentions about the earlier paper-pencil based test. However, this year, due to the unprecedented COVID crisis, the association has decided on conducting the test completely online. The online test can be appeared from any location you desire, even from the safety and comfort of your home, thus eliminating the need for the candidates to travel to a test centre. All that you will require is a good enough desktop or laptop with certain minimum configurations to appear for the test. The added advantage of this online mode of test is that it will be held over a period of two days in multiple sessions. You will be free to chose the date and time of the test as per your convenience. The details of this online test can be obtained from the KMAT website. Important dates
The exact dates for the test are yet to be notified. One week before the test the students will be able to download their admit cards from the website. The admit cards will have a unique code that will give them access to choose the date and time slot of their test. The code will also be required for accessing the online test. The applicants will be updated about the dates through email messages as well as phone SMS. Candidates are also advised to keep a track of the latest updates regarding the dates by visiting the KMAT website, from time to time.
Eligibility for KMAT 2020
The eligibility requirements are as per UGC guidelines. For entrance to MBA programs, the candidate should be a graduate with 3 years of study or a postgraduate in streams such as commerce, management, engineering, technology, arts, social sciences, etc. Final year students can also apply for the test. The candidate should have scored at least 50% of marks in aggregate in his/her qualifying degree. For SC/ST candidates the minimum requirements 45%.
For MCA, the aspirant should be a graduate in any discipline with 50% marks in aggregate and an additional requirement of having studied mathematics in 10+2 or graduation.Test format
KMAT is of 2 hours duration with 120 MCQ type questions in all. The questions are divided into 3 sections, namely Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Logical & Abstract Reasoning and finally Quantitative Ability. Each section has 40 questions. Every question is of one mark. There are no negative marking. The difficulty level of the test is moderate. Results
The candidates can download their scorecards as and when they are released on the KMAT website. The KMAT scores are also passed on to participating management institutions to be used by them for taking in admissions. After receipt of the score cards, the candidates will have to individually apply to their chosen management institute.How to apply
For registering for KMAT 2020, the applicant will have to visit the official website of KMAT and click on the 'Apply Now' button. You will have to first register yourself to get the application number. You will necessarily need a valid email ID and mobile number for registration. Once registered, you can login with your application number and date of birth to fill up the online application form and finally pay the necessary application fees through any of the online modes of payment viz. net banking, debit cards or credit cards. You will also have to attach a scanned copy of your signature and passport size photograph.
