Ministry of Food Processing Industries Internship Scheme 2020 for UG, PG & PhD Students

About MoFPl Internship Scheme

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India has started MoFPI Internship Scheme for Food and Agriculture students. The internship scheme will provide an opportunity for the undergraduate or graduate or postgraduate or PhD students to short-term exposure to various divisions /schemes of MoFPI. They will get the knowledge of food processing industries development in the country which will be helpful in their academic and professional development. The main objectives of this scheme is to provide the knowledge of the functioning of government and policy formulations and work for mutual benefit by involving young talent with the MoFPI.

  • Creation or Expansion of Food Processing/Preservation Capacities (Unit Scheme)

  • Creation of Backward and Forward Linkages
  • Operation Greens
  • Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises
  • Haxaed Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure (FSSAI)
  • Human Resources and Institutions (i.e. Research & Development, Promotional
  • Activities, Skill Development and Strengthening of Institutions)
  • Food Testing Laboratories (FTL)
  • TUS
  • Abattoir


Details of the Scheme

Scheme Name: The MoFPI Internship Scheme

Advertisement No.A-42013/14/2020-Admin.

Availability of Internship: Four times a year every quarter in March, June, September and December.

Intake Capacity: In each quarter there will be a maximum of 15 interns. Each Head of Divisions/Schemes can take a maximum of two interns (beyond 2 can be taken with the permission of secretory, MoFPI).

Duration: The duration of the Internship will be from six weeks to a maximum of three months.

Attendance: At least 75% of attendances are required during the internship period. Besides, interns will have to mark In and Out time on a daily basis. At least 75% attendance is required for issuance of experience certificate.

Logistics Facility: All the interns will have their laptops. However, the workspace, internet facility will be provided by the MoFPI.

The Benefit to the students:After successful completion of the internship, the interns will be issued an experience certificate by the Under Secretary Level Officers of the concerned Subject Division of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. It must be noted that the certificate will be issued to the interns who will complete the requisite period of internship.

Important Note: There will be no remuneration or TA/DA will be paid to the interns under this internship scheme. Candidates will have to make their arrangement of boarding and lodging as no Hostel facilities will be provided under the internship.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Any national can apply for this internship.
  2. The candidates must be completed or have appeared in any undergraduate/graduate/postgraduate/ PhD course in Food Technology or Food Engineering or Food Science or Agriculture or Horticulture or Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering or MBA in Rural Management or MBA in Supply Chain Management or M.Sc. with Food and Agriculture.
  3. The applicants must have completed or appeared in the second year or 4th semester of the bachelor degree course from any recognised university or institution.
  4. They must have secured at least 85% or equivalent marks in 12th class.
  5. Graduate students who have completed or appeared in the first year or 2nd semester of post-graduation or pursuing research/ PhD must secure at least 70% or equivalent marks in graduation.
  6. The student who has completed graduation or PG or appeared in the final exams are also eligible. They must secure a minimum of 70% aggregate marks in all the years/semesters of their graduation/ post-graduation.

Note: The gap period between the result declaration of final exam and internship should not exceed six months.

Selection procedure

  • All the applications received in each Head of Division/ Schemes by the due date will be scrutinized by the Director or Deputy Secretary of the concerned schemes in MoFPI.
  • The selected candidates will have to submit the soft copy of their NOC from their Head of the Department/Principal before issuance of the offer letter. Original copy of NOC is required to be submitted at the time of the joining of the candidate.
  • List of selected candidates will be uploaded on MoFPl's website by the concerned division/scheme.
  • Eligibility criteria and limit the number of the applicants and screening mode can be fixed up by the MoFPI for a particular domain or area based upon the number of applications received.
  • At the end of the internship, interns will have to prepare and submit a brief report or paper about their learning experience to the Head of the concerned Divisions/Schemes and Director or Deputy Secretary of the concerned schemes.
  • Seminars or presentation can be held by the concerned Heads of particular Divisions/Schemes for their Interns.

Review of Scheme: Scheme can be reviewed anytime by MoFPI. The review report will be available on the website of MoFPI.

Application procedure

  • MoFPI accepts application from 1st to 10th of March, June, September and December every year. Currently, applications for the September month are open. However, applicants can apply only once in a financial year.
  • Applications for this internship are accepted through email only. Interested candidates must visit the official website of MoFPI and check their eligibility before applying as the applications of the applicants not satisfying the eligibility requirements will not be considered.
  • Application is to be filled on the prescribed format available at the official website (link is given below).
  • The application must be filled carefully clearly indicating the area of interest and along with the requisite documents must be sent on the email ID: rehan.zaheer@nic.in.
  • In the Subject line of the email must be written as:
    Subject- MoFPI lnternship-[Name of Applicant]-regarding.
  • All the documents attached to the application must be self-attested.
