What is special about the RMK Engineering College Chennai is one metro city that has expanded in all directions. There are two directions on the Northern side. One is the North-West expansion on the Mumbai/Bangalore route. Another is the North-East expansion along the Bay of Bengal and this expansion has been dramatic in recent years.
One industrial suburb that has expanded in recent years is a place called Gummidipoondi. The basic infrastrucuture has improved by leaps and bounds in the recent years and the Chennai Metro is bound to be expanded in the next few years. As such, the reality is that Southern Chennai is better developed than the Southern part of Chennai that has too many good engineering colleges and almost every deemed University. Perhaps to fill this void, the R.M.K. Engineering College has emerged as a good branded college in this part of the city, near Gummidipoondi.
This college offers all the conventional courses and those interviewed for this article made a special mention about the utility of two courses under the B.Tech umbrella. These courses are the ones in Artificial Intelligence and Data sciences where the knowledge partner is the prestigious Chennai-based IT company called Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) and in Computer Science and Business Systems where the knowledge partner is TCS. Hence, this college has already forged industry links and it is no wonder that this college is reputed for a good placement record in this part of the city. Furthermore, the college also has the facilities of MS/PhD degrees, through research, in Computer Science and Engineering, Information technology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Since the overall ecosystem of courses is so good, this R.M.K. Engineering College Chennai has been able to make a big difference to the quality of engineering education in Gummidipoondi, a North-East suburb of Chennai.
