How to apply for Internship program at Sports Authority of India for UG & PG students

About SAI

The Sports Authority of India (SAI), was set up as a registered society under the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. It is a successor organization of the IXth Asian Games held in New Delhi in 1982. SAI was formed with the aim of promotion of Sports and Games, training and preparation of national teams, monitoring, producing high caliber coaches and physical educationists, and providing international exposure to teams. Besides, SAI is also responsible for the development, maintenance and operating the sports infrastructure and following stadia in Delhi viz., Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex, Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges, etc.

SAI Internship programme

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) offers internship or training opportunities to students with a good academic record, interest and aptitude in research in Sports.

Duration of the internship: Internship at SAI can be done for a duration of a maximum of six months.

Stipend: No stipend will be paid to the interns.

Eligibility criteria

Nationality: Sports Authority of India Internship is open to all nationals.

Availability of Internship: Internship will be available anytime as and when required by the Sports Science and Medical Centers of Sports Authority of India. Usually, it is available throughout the year.

Educational Qualification: Following are the educational requirements:
  1. The applicants must be enrolled in Graduation or Post Graduation programme in any of the disciplines viz. Anthropometry, Nutrition, Physiology, Biochemistry, Psychology, GTMT, Biomechanics, Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy, etc.
  2. The candidates who have completed their Post Graduation in the disciplines of viz. Anthropometry, Nutrition, Physiology, Biochemistry, Psychology, GTMT, Biomechanics, Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy, etc.
  3. Students from any government and recognised institution or universities can apply for the internship.

Students wishing to join an internship at SAI must visit the official website of Sports Authority of India to check the latest notification on the availability of internship or training. The applicants may apply in the prescribed format and send their application to the Heads of the respective Regional Centres/HPL.

When to apply

Applications for internship are accepted every month from 1st to 10th. The candidate must apply before two months from the commencement of the internship.

What to be mentioned in the application

The candidates must mention the period of internship or training in the application. It should be mentioned in the email as well. Besides, a synopsis must be prepared to highlight the topic, proposed work, academic achievements, etc. In the application, it must be mentioned how SAI will be benefitted by this internship. The word limit for the synopsis is a maximum of 500 words. Also, the submission of a recommendation letter issued from the candidate's academic institution is mandatory.

Selection process

Mode of screening and selection of the applicants will depend on the number of applications received in a particular discipline. All rights about the fixing of eligibility criteria, number and limits of applicants are reserved with SAI. Selected candidates for the internship will receive an internship offer directly by the concerned division under intimation to the
Administration.
