About MP-IDSA
The Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (MP-IDSA) is the principal think-tank on policies related to defence and security issues in India and a truly multidisciplinary body that researches various aspects related to the defence and security of the country. Formerly it was known as Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) and was established in 1965. The faculties of research are from various backgrounds like defence, civil service and educationists and because of this, a multidimensional viewpoint is taken into account to formulate policies on national and international security. MP-IDSA also conducts training programs for military and civilians every year and is funded by the Ministry of Defence. Categories of research
The topics of research are selected based on the relevant issues concerning India's security and special attention is paid to the research works under progress so that the topics are not duplicated. It also finds out the fields to be explored that require specific attention. They prioritize the research under two categories – Area Studies and Thematic Studies.
Area Studies deal with issues/concerns of specific country or region and Thematic Studies are issues related to Military Affairs, WMD & Nuclear issues and Non-Military threats.
Area Studies deal with the countries in the following sections.
Thematic Studies on Military Affairs deal with Defence issues, Maritime Security, Modelling, Simulation, Net Assessment and Risk Assessment.
Thematic Studies on WMD & Nuclear issues deal with strengthening Non-proliferation regime, Civil Nuclear energy cooperation, WMD and international terrorism, analysis on India's nuclear policy, Ballistic Missile Defence, etc.
Thematic Studies on Non-Military threats deal with International Terrorism, Internal Security, Environmental and Energy Security. Research Centres/Areas

Since the areas of research are vast, the interns have to efficiently manage the projects assigned to them, help in carrying out administrative tasks, write and edit contents on the web and do other tasks based on the assignment. Motivated individuals having a good grasp over English (both spoken and written) should be able to bear stress during the work, meet the deadline to complete the tasks, interested to work in teams and must have the interest to learn under all circumstances. A Master's Degree in a discipline relevant to the area of internship or a final year student of a Master's Degree program in the relevant discipline can apply for the internship. The area of research is not related to any specific topic and students of multidiscipline, ranging from Engineering & Technology, Law, Environmental Science, International Relations, Social Science, Finance, etc can apply for the internship program based on the area of interest with a relevant academic qualification.

Defence and security of a country are not only about arms and ammunition and a lot of research work is required to formulate effective policy. Duration of internship
The duration of the internship is six months that may be extended up to one year according to the requirement.Support to the interns
Interns will be provided with office space and an internet connection to carry out their work. Any other facilities required during the internship will be provided by MP-IDSA. Honorarium for the interns
For the first two months, this internship is unpaid. According to the performance of the intern, if MP-IDSA thinks that the internship can be increased further then an honorarium of Rs 10,000/- per month will be paid to the interns. However, this honorarium is applicable only for Indian nationals. How to apply

Foreign nationals willing to join this internship program should have research visas for the duration of the internship and for that the required letter of affiliation will be provided by MP-IDSA to the selected applicants.
