Top institutes in India offering Internships in GIS and Remote Sensing
Are you looking for an internship in the field of GIS and Remote Sensing? Many well-known institutes working in this field offer internship to graduates, postgraduates and PhD students. In this article details of some top institutes are given which are offering internship in GIS and Remote Sensing. Read this article to know the details of the institute, internships, eligibility and application procedure, etc.
What is GIS and Remote Sensing?
A geographic information system (GIS) is a computer-based tool for collecting, managing and analyzing data of earth features. In this technology, database operations like statistical analysis and query are integrated with the maps. Data is analysed by organising various layers of information and geo-locations and create maps.
Remote sensing is the science of finding the physical properties and measurement of an area without being thereby using sensors. These sensors allow users to collect data, visualize and analyze images and features on Earth's surface which can be classified into land cover.Scope of GIS and Remote Sensing Courses
GIS and Remote Sensing is a growing field and is used in industries and various sectors. Therefore, it has a wide scope for the students who want to make their career in this field. GIS and remote sensing courses help students in collecting, organising, mapping, analysing the data and develop geoscience skills. GIS and remote sensing can be used in monitoring and managing vehicles, managing networks crime mapping, wildlife habitat conservation etc.1. Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping

The article has well presented the internship opportunities in GIS and remote sensing fields. These two areas are now emerging as the thrust areas and there are immense opportunities in these for the interested persons aspiring for a career in these niche areas. Due to advancements in the computer technology GIS and remote sensing has got a big boost as newer technologies are available which can be used for mapping of the Earth surface quickly which was otherwise a herculean task when attempted manually. Remote sensing has been a boon to the users of imagery collected through remote sensors or satellites and is useful for many industries and projects in private as well as Govt organisations.
The persons qualified in GIS and remote sensing can have good career chances in the companies which compile and use this data in various ways. Qualified persons can also try for jobs in consulting firms, research libraries, software development firms and scientific laboratories.
