Jamnabai Narsee International School (JNIS), Mumbai has been offering the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for more than 10 years. The school has announced admissions open for the IBDP for the academic session 2021-22.

About JNIS IBDP

Under the management of the Narsee Monjee Educational Trust which set up Jamnabai Narsee International School in 2015, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme has been successfully implemented for the higher secondary school students. As per the IB Board norms, the curriculum focuses on three main areas, namely-
(i) Theory of Knowledge (TOK),
(ii) Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and
(iii) Extended Essay.



There are five subject groups for the IBDP and students who must select one subject from each group. The groups are as follows (SL is Standard Level and HL is Higher Level)-
Group 1 - Studies in language and literature
Language A: Literature – students analyze literary texts.
Language A: Language and Literature - students have to make a critical study and interpretation of written and spoken literary and non-literary texts.
Literature and Performance - students study the interaction between literary skills and various elements of a performance.

Group 2 - Language acquisition
Language B - acquiring language skills with experience of a target language.
Language ab initio - acquiring language skills with little or no experience of the target language.
Classical languages - study of Latin and Classical Greek.

Business and management
Economics
Geography
History
Information technology in a global society
Philosophy
Psychology
Social and cultural anthropology
World religions (SL)
Environmental systems and societies

Group 4 - Sciences
Biology
Chemistry
Design technology
Environmental systems and societies
Physics
Computer science
Sports, exercise and health science (SL)

Group 5 - Mathematics
Mathematical studies SL
Further Mathematics HL
Mathematics SL
Mathematics HL



Students also select either Visual Arts from Group 6 or optionally take up a second subject from the above-mentioned Groups 1 to 5.

An additional activity is the outreach program called 'Sarvavikas Adharaha Yati Atmanirbharatha Moolam' (SVAYAM), which is a project aimed at helping a rural area become self-sufficient.

Evaluation and assessment

Students have to complete the assigned tasks that are assessed by their teachers and these are then sent for further evaluation by external examiners. There is a written exam at the very end of the IBDP programme. A student must get a minimum of 24 points to be eligible for the IB award and must also satisfactorily meet the minimum levels of performance across the whole programme. A student can achieve a maximum of 45 points for IBDP.

Application procedure for JNIS IBDP admissions

Applications for admission should be made online at the Jamnabai Narsee International School admissions portal.

The student must enter the name of the parent's mobile number (father or mother's name) in the Student ID field while making the payment of the registration fee of Rs. 1000/-. Note that admission will depend on the availability of seats and registration does not guarantee admission to the school.

Dates of IBDP online admissions: 21st September to 27th September 2020.
