National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) is an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The institute was established on 18th February 2010. NABI is engaged in the research in agriculture biotechnology, food and nutritional biotechnology using biotechnology tools. The aim of the institute is to provide a sustainable solution to improve food quality.

Position Name: Student Intern

No. of Positions: 06. Intern positions are purely temporary.

Stipend: A stipend of Rs.5000/- per month (Consolidated) will be paid to the interns.

Duration: Internship duration will be of two months from the start of the training.

Subject areas:Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Life Sciences.

Eligibility requirements

The candidates who wish to join the student internship at NABI must be undergraduate in Engineering or postgraduate in Science. However, preference will be given to the candidates from the Chemistry/ Botany/ Life sciences/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry background.

Projects details

There are six numbers of projects in which interns will work during their internship period. Projects are:

Project 1: "Development of Glycoconjugates based site-directed fluorescent sensor for the detection of bacteria CRG."

Project 2: "Genomics-guided exploration of polyketide synthases for sustainable production of long-chain omega-3 fatty acid via metabolic engineering."

Project 3: "Metabolic engineering of triacylglycerol (TAG) biosynthetic pathway to enhance the nutritional quality of forage sorghum and rumen protection of dietary lipids."

Project 4: "Genomic approaches to reduce ß-ODABP levels in Lathyrus spp."

Project 5: "Development of the bionanoplatform-based ultrasensitive sensor for the detection of food contaminants with enhanced portability and regenerability."

Project 6: "Development of microalgae-based feed supplement for enhanced bioavailability of essential micronutrients for monogastric animals."

Application procedure

The candidates must check the official notification by visiting the official website of NABI before applying. The candidate should fill the application as per the prescribed application format available on the website. Besides, they will have to fill the synopsis sheet (excel format). No other formats will be considered. Also, they must check that correct details are filled in the application form and synopsis sheet. Details once submitted can not be changed. Note: Applications must to be sent through e-mail only. There is no need to send any other documents with the application form except the synopsis sheet.

Selection process

Short-listing of the interns will be based on the details filled in the application form and synopsis sheet. At the time of document verification, the following documents will be required in original:
  1. Age proof
  2. Mark sheet and certificates from 10th standard onwards.

Submission deadline

The last date to apply is 28th September 2020. Please note that applications received after the due date will be rejected. The candidates must check the website of NABI regularly for any change in the last date or any other update regarding the internship.
