Direct admissions to B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration course in IHM, Ranchi


Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (commonly known as IHM), Ranchi, is offering direct admission to B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration course against the residual seats for the academic year 2020-21. About the Institute

Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (commonly known as IHM), Ranchi, was established in the year 2019 under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and Department of Tourism, Govt. of Jharkhand. The main aim of the institute is to develop skilled manpower for the hospitality industry. It has an affiliation with the National Council for Hotel Management Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and also has affiliation with Indira Gandhi National Open University. The institute is well equipped with modern laboratories to train the students in the areas of hotel management and operations. It is noted that NCHMCT is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and it centrally regulates hospitality and hotel administration courses of studies that are imparted at the existing 24 Institutes of Hotel Management (including this one) and 7 Food Craft Institutes under its affiliation which are located in different parts of the country. All these Institutes follow standardized courses prescribed by NCHMCT for the different professional programs.

Direct admission offer

Though the admission to this course is done through the centralized entrance test (NCHMCT JEE) but there is a provision of direct admission also for the residual seats left out after the finalization of candidates taken through the said entrance test. The institute is now offering admission to B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration under the direct quota against the residual vacancies in this course.

About the course

B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration course is a full time 3 years course comprising of 6 semesters. It is conducted by the institute in collaboration with the National Council for Hotel Management (NCHMCT) and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The course contains detailed practical training in the area of Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation, House Keeping, Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing, and Tourism Management etc.

Eligibility

  1. Student should have at least qualified in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary education or its equivalent and should have obtained not less than 50% marks.

  2. The applicant should have studied English as one of the compulsory subjects in higher secondary.

  3. Upper age limit is 25 yrs as on 01.07.2020 for general and OBC candidates while it is 28 yrs as on 01.07.2020 for SC/ST and PwD categories.

How to apply

Interested candidates can download the application form from www.ihmranchi.in or can also obtain it directly by visiting the institute. To apply online, the applicants have to first register themselves by filling the registration form available on official website of the institute. Applicants have to follow the guidelines and fill the application form and attach the copies of all the educational testimonials as mentioned therein. The time and last date of submission of this physical application is 5 PM on 16.10.2020 after which applications would not be accepted.

Course fee

The total course fee for the 3 years period is about Rs 3,30,000.
