Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas 2020 online recruitment entrance test for 737 Principals and Teachers


Are you looking for the notification of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) for hiring school Principals and Teachers? Online registrations have begun for the online Computer Based Test (CBT) through which eligible candidates can take up teaching posts or for appointment to the post of a Principal at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas. Details of the entrance test format and fee and the online application procedure have been provided, along with the complete list of vacancies and eligibility criteria for each.

Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) has issued the schedule of the entrance test for recruiting 737 eligible candidates for the positions of Principals as well as filling up teaching vacancies at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas in various Districts of the State for the 5th Phase recruitment 2020. These include backlog vacancies and new vacancies. Selection will be done on the basis of performance in the Computer Based Test (CBT), an interview (you can opt for English or Odia when appearing for the interview) and a Performance Test. Reservation will be as per current norms of OAVS and those currently in service are required submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) duly signed by the employer at the time of the interview/performance Test. Selected candidates may be posted in any part of Odisha and must sign a bond to render mandatory service for a minimum of two years from the date of joining.

Note: Only the position of Computer Teacher is a contractual one; all others are regular posts.




Eligibility requirements

General requirements

General criteria for all posts: You must be a citizen of India, mentally healthy and not have more than one spouse living.

General educational qualifications for all posts: It is mandatory to have passed MIL Odia up to ME standard. If not, then you are required pass the exam conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, Cuttack within three years from the date of joining. You must also have a Master's Degree/Bachelor Degree in Arts/ Science with Bachelor Degree in Education from any University of the State as applicable for the position that you wish to apply for. Note that if the Degree qualification has been obtained from an outside University or institution, you will need to submit the requisite authenticated proof of equivalency and NCTE recognition at the time of verification, otherwise you will be ineligible in the selection process.

General criteria for TGT posts: You must have passed the Odisha Secondary Schools Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET)/ Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET)-Paper-II conducted by BSE/CTET -Paper-II conducted by CBSE in accordance with NCTE guidelines. Those who do not fulfill this eligibility requirement should not apply for any of the posts.

General skills for all teaching posts: You must be competence to teach both in English and Odia medium, and knowledge of computer applications is also desirable.

Age criteria

For the post of Principal: You should be below 50 years of age and above 32 years of age as on 1st September 2020. The upper age limit is relaxed by five years for SC/ST, Women, SEBC, Ex-military persons and by 10 years for PH candidates.

For all teaching posts: You should be below 32 years of age and above 21 years of age as on 1st September 2020.

Academic Qualifications

Educational qualifications for the post of Principal: You should have a Master's Degree from a recognized University with minimum 45% marks in aggregate, as well as B.Ed. (NCTE-prescribed) from an NCTE-recognized and affiliated to a recognized University.

Educational qualifications for TGT posts: You should have completed a four-year Integrated Degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates). Alternatively, you should have a Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Science in the concerned subjects with minimum 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates) along with a degree in Bachelor in Education (NCTE-prescribed) from any institution that is NCTE-recognized and affiliated to a recognized University. Refer to the official notification to know the subjects and Languages in the combination of subjects. Note that those with Special B.Ed. or D.Ed. qualifications are ineligible for a TGT post.



Educational qualifications for PGT posts: You should have completed a two-year Integrated Postgraduate Course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates). Alternatively, you should have a Master's Degree in the concerned subject from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/ SEBC/PH candidates). Also mandatory is Bachelor Degree in Education (NCTE-prescribed) from any institution that is NCTE-recognized and affiliated to a recognized University. Proficiency in teaching both in Odia and English medium is essential and computer knowledge is desirable. Note that those with Special B.Ed. or Special D.Ed. qualifications are ineligible for a PGT post.

Educational qualifications for P.E.T.: You should have B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed. (NCTE-prescribed) from a recognised University/Institution, with proficiency in teaching in Odia and English medium. Computer knowledge is desirable.

Educational qualifications for Computer Teacher: You should have B.E. in Compute Science/B.Tech. in Computer Science or I.T./MCA/M.Sc., IT/M.Sc. Computer Science from a recognized University or 'B' Level of DOEACC /NIELIT or BCA/B.Sc. In Computer Science from a recognized University. You must be competent to teach through English and Odia medium as well.

Experience criteria

Experience for the post of Principal: You should be holding an analogous post or the post of Principal in a Central/ State Govt./Autonomous Organization of the Central/State Govt. in the pay band of Rs.15600- 39100 with GP of Rs.5400/- /current pay level -12 of ORSP Rules, 2017 (refer to the official notification for alternate acceptable experience eligibility).

Application procedure

Submit the application through online registration at OAVS website with a valid email ID and mobile phone number. Before you do so, though, read the instructions carefully. Payment of the application and processing fee is also to be done online only via Internet Banking or using a Credit Card or a Debit Card.. The fee is a non-refundable one – (i) Rs.1500/- for the post of Principal (Rs.1000/-for SC, ST & PwD candidates); (ii) Rs.1000/- for all Teaching posts (Rs.700/- for SC, ST & PwD candidates).

Relevant documents/mark sheets such as those related to academic qualification, caste, etc. should be scanned and kept ready for uploading during the online application process. Also required – (i) A scanned photo - recent passport size one against a light background (preferably white), not older than three weeks, and of file size up to 100kb in jpg/ jpeg format; (ii) Scanned signature on white paper with Black/ Blue ink pen of file size up to100kb in jpg/ jpeg format.

Recruitment entrance test

For the post of Principal

The CBT is a 3-hour objective type paper with multiple choice answers, of 180 marks with 0.25 marks negative marking for an incorrect answer.. The sections are-
Part I: Language Proficiency Test - English (20 marks) and Odia (20 marks). On scoring a minimum of 5 marks each in English and Odia subjects and 13 marks in aggregate, then only you are eligible to appear for the other Parts.
Part II: General Awareness and Computer Literacy Text - General knowledge & Contemporary issues (10 marks), Logical Reasoning (10 marks), Computer Literacy (10 marks) and Quantitative Aptitude Test (10 marks).
Part III: Child development & pedagogy (10 marks), Perspectives in education & school organization (10 marks) and Teaching methodology (10 marks).
Part IV: Administration and Finance – 70 marks.
Then there will be an interview which has a score of 60 marks.

For TGT teaching posts

There will be Multiple Choice Questions for the duration of 200 minutes, with negative marking of 0.25 marks for an incorrect answer.
Part I: English (20 questions) and Odia (20 questions). On scoring a minimum of 5 marks each in English and Odia subjects and 13 marks in aggregate, then only you are eligible to appear for the other Parts.
Part II: Current Affairs (30 questions), Reasoning (30 questions).
Part III: Subject content and methodology (100 questions). Part II will be evaluated only if you are successful in Part I.
Interview: 40 marks.

For PGT teaching posts

Same as for TGT posts.

For P.E.T. posts

Same as for TGT posts.

For Computer Teaching posts

Same as for TGT posts; and interview of 20 marks.



Test centres : The Computer Based Test are likely to be held at – Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Baripada, Behrampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur. You can select any two preferences when filling up the online application form.

At the test center: You cannot appear for the CBT without a printout of the valid E-Admit Card as well a valid Photo Identity Card in original that has been issued by Government of India/State Government of Odisha. The photo ID can be any one of these - Election Card, Passport, PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Driving License, a Government Identity Card. Note that during document verification at a later stage, you will be required to produce your Original Certificates along with one set of self-attested photocopies.
