Directorate of School Education, West Bengal is going to conduct a centrally sponsored Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Examination 2020 for the students studying in class VIII as such looking for online applications are being invited from the eligible candidates.
Who can apply
Candidates studying in class VII are eligible to apply for this examination. However, applicants should be of any recognized govt. / govt. aided / local body / govt. Sponsored school which also includes West Bengal Madrasha without any residential facility.
Candidates must have at least 55% marks in the final exam of class VII which is relaxed by 5% for the candidates belong to SC / ST / Disable category.
None from any Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, residential schools run by state govt., any private school are allowed to apply for the above exam.
Parental total annual income of the candidates intending to apply for NMMS exam should not be more than Rs. 1,50,000/- from all sources.
Exam pattern and syllabus
There will be two tests named Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test which will be conducted in two different sessions of 90 minutes each on a single day. There will be 90 questions of one mark each to answer in each test. All the questions will be of objective type with no negative marking.
The NMMS exam will not be conducted on any particular syllabus. However, the standard of question will suit to the standard of class VII and VII. The Scholastic Aptitude Test will be based on the following subjects:
Mathematics
Physical Science
Life Science
History
Geography

Interested candidates have to visit at www.scholarships.wbsed.gov.in within below mentioned time frame to obtain online application form and the certificate format
Fill in the application form
Print the filled in application form and the certificate format
Certificate format needs to be filled up and duly signed by the head of the institution where the candidates is studying
Keep the following scan copies not more than 100KB eachready duly signed by the concerned school authority:
Parental annual income certified by the competent authority:
Employer certificate is required from the period from 01.04.2019 to 31.03.2020 for the salaried employees of either government or semi-govt. or govt. aided organization / institution
Income certificate for the period from 01.04.2019 to 31.03.2020 is needed for them who does not fall under above categories. The certificate should be obtained from a competent authority having minimum rank of Joint BDO or Executive Officer in case of corporation / municipality area.
Copy of bank account (either single or joint) passbook in the name of the applicant. In case of joint account, applicant must be the first account holder. Bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar card if applicant has and the same should be mentioned in the respective space given on the application form.
Cast certificate issued by the competent authority, if applicable
Disability certificate (40% or more) certified by the competent medical board of the state / central govt., if applicable
Upload the above documents to your account.
Note: The submission of online application will be completed once the certificate of head of the school / institution along with other said documents are uploaded.
Important notes
No fee is required to be paid by the applicants for the exam
Applicants should apply for the district where their school is located
In addition to 23 administrative district in West Bengal; there are another two educational districts. One is Barrackpore and another is Siliguri. Accordingly, applicants studying from a school in Barrackpore or Bidhannagar (Salt Lake) sub-division, should choose Barrackpore in place of either Kolkata or North 24 Pgs. Similarly, Applicants of a school under Siliguri sub-division, must opt for the same instead of Darjeeling.
Candidature of any applicants may be rejected any time without any reference in case any false information is found
Application may be rejected in case any incomplete / irrelevant info / photo / documents are submitted
In case it is found that the applicant is not from any recognized school, his / her examination / scholarship may be cancelled at any stage without showing any reason

Examination will be held at various centres all over West Bengal on 17.01.2020
