SSUHS Guwahati BSc Nursing and Diploma in Pharmacy courses admissions 2020-21


The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences has released the notification for the Common Entrance Examination for admission to BSc in Nursing and Diploma in Pharmacy courses. Introduction

The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, established in 2009 through an act of the Assam Legislative Assembly, is the only health university in the North-East region. It has 47 institutions affiliated with it, including 4 nursing colleges. The university has released the official notification for admission into BSc Nursing and Diploma in Pharmacy courses. Accordingly, a Common Entrance Examination (CEE) will be held for both courses under the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.

For BSc Nursing, the students who clear the CEE will be eligible to apply for any of the following three colleges: BSc Nursing College (Silchar), BSc Nursing College (Dibrugarh), and Regional College of Nursing (Guwahati). In the case of candidates who want to apply for D.Pharm, admissions are open to the Institutes of Pharmacy attached to the three medical colleges of Assam.

Eligibility

For BSc Nursing:
  1. The candidate must be a female and should be a permanent resident of the state of Assam.

  2. The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board with at least 50% marks (without grace marks) in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For SC/ST candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.

  3. The age of the candidate must be between 17 to 24 years of age as of 31 December 2020. The upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years in the case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.


For D.Pharm:
  1. The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.

  2. The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board (without grace marks) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and/or Mathematics.

  3. The age should be above 17 years and below 24 years as of 31 December 2020. Again the upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years in the case of candidates from SC/ST/OBC/MOBC categories.

Please note that there will be a reservation of seats according to the government rules. For both courses, SC/ST (both ST plains and ST hills)/OBC/MOBC/TGL (Tea Garden Labour)/Ex-TGL/PWD (Divyang) candidates will be eligible for reservation. For D.Pharm, the Char Area candidates will also be eligible for reservation.

Scheme of examination

The examination will have three papers in total. These are as follows:
  • Paper 1 (Physics and Chemistry): This paper will have 100 questions of 1 mark each. The time limit is 2 hours.

  • Paper 2 (Biology): This paper will have 50 questions of 1 mark each. The time limit here is 1 hour.

  • Paper 3 (Mathematics): This paper will have 50 questions of 1 mark each. The time limit here is also 1 hour.

Each of these papers will be of 10+2 standard. A candidate applying for BSc Nursing will have to appear for Papers 1 and 2. A candidate applying for the D.Pharm course should appear in Paper 1 and either Paper 2 or 3. The D.Pharm candidates can appear for both Papers 2 and 3 but in counting the final marks only the higher of the two marks will be counted.

Application process

  • The application process will be conducted through the online mode only. To apply for the entrance exam, please visit the following website: formonline.net/SSUHS_2020/. The same portal can also be accessed through the red-colored hyperlink displayed prominently on the homepage of SSUHS i.e. www.ssuhs.in.

  • After reaching the Form Online portal, click on "Application form". On clicking on it, the instructions for filling up the online form will appear. Please read each of the instructions carefully. After you have finished reading the instructions, click on "Next". This will take you to the actual application form.

  • Now enter your basic details, address, educational details, etc. You are also required to choose the course that you are applying for.

  • You will also be asked to choose your preferred examination center. The list of examination centers is as follows: Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Jorhat, Barpeta, and Tezpur.

  • Then you will be asked to upload a scanned image of your signature along with your passport size photo. Please note that the specifications for each are given on the instructions page that you have come across previously.

  • After all the necessary documents have been uploaded, you will be taken to the payment gateway. Only online mode of payment is valid. The application fee for the Common Entrance Examination is Rs 1200.00.

  • After all the details have been entered and the payment process is completed, click on "Submit" for the final submission of the application form. Please keep your Application number and Password with you as these will be required while downloading the admit card.


Important dates

  • Online application: From 5 November 2020 to 30 November 2020 (till 5:00 pm)

  • Admit card: To be available from 14 December 2020 onwards (on the official website)

  • Common Entrance Examination: On 20 December 2020

This is a good information regarding the admissions in these colleges for nursing and pharmacy courses. Today, there is a tough job condition in our country and just doing an Arts, Commerce, or Science degree is not going to help in job hunting. From that perspective the nursing and pharmacy related courses are much important and have a better career and job potential. So, it makes sense for the eligible candidates to apply for these courses and appear in the entrance examination. The medical industry is poised for more and more development in the coming times and there is going to be an increasing demand of the medical professionals.
