About the university
Assam Women's University located at Jorhat in Assam was established in the year 2014 through an act of the State Legislature of Assam. It was exclusively set up for the higher education of girls residing in and around the state. It is in fact, the only Women's University in the entire northeastern region of India. It offers 2 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate courses in a variety of disciplines that includes arts, science, technology, industry, social science, commerce and management. It also provides avenues for research in the above disciplines at its campus. To keep abreast with the latest developments and to be in sync with the outside world, from time to time the university organizes various student exchange programs with universities outside the state as well as abroad.

PG Courses Eligibility Criteria
For SC/ST candidates there is a relaxation of 5% in marks. For eligibility criteria specific to the course, the candidates are advised to download the prospectus that is available at the online admission portal of the university website.Seats for each course
Total seats for each course is 30, where 5 of the seats are higher fee (Endowment) category seats. For Master of Physiotherapy (MPT), Master of Social Work (MSW) and MA in Psychology, all the seats are higher fee, i.e. self-financed category seats.Reservation of seats
Seats for the various courses are reserved as per the norms of Government of Assam for the following category of candidates:
The above reserved category candidates have to upload a self-attested copy of the requisite certificate along with the online application. Original copy of the certificate is to be produced at the time of admission.NRI and foreign candidates
NRI and foreign candidates too may apply for the different courses available at the university. They have to forward their application through the Indian missions abroad or their respective missions/embassy at New Delhi. The fees for such candidates as prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is three times that of the prescribed fees for Indian students.PG courses Selection Process
The selections for the various postgraduate programs in Assam Women's University will be based on the performance of the candidates in an entrance test conducted by the university. The dates, timing and venue for the test will be notified by the university at its website. On qualifying the entrance test, the selected candidates will have to appear for counselling as per their admission date and time. They will have to bring with them all the necessary documents, including original certificates, mark sheets, etc. Admissions are to be taken immediately after counselling, failing which the candidate will have to forfeit the seat.
Entrance Test Syllabus
The syllabus for the entrance test varies from course to course. For some of the courses, it is based on the subject matter of the course and for some, it is based on logical reasoning, English language proficiency, quantitative aptitude, current affairs, computer basics and so on. To apply, the applicants have to submit their applications online by visiting the website of Assam Women's University. There are no provisions to submit the applications offline through post or any other means. If an applicant desires to apply for more than one course, then she has to apply separately for each one of them through online mode only. Before submitting their applications, the candidates are advised to download the prospectus that is available at the university website and go through its details. The candidates are also required to visit the web portal of the Director of Higher Education (DHE), Assam at http://dheonlineadmission.amtron.in/sp/ for generating a unique ID that is required for online admissions at various academic institutions in Assam. A physical fitness certificate, the format for which is available as an annexure in the prospectus, is also to be submitted along with the online application.Important Dates for the session 2020-21
The time and venue of the entrance test will also be notified later by the university. Applicants are advised to check for updates at the official website of the college for any notification regarding the dates.Fee waiver for the aided programs
The DHE, Govt. of Assam through its notification dated 17 June 2020 has waived the fees for the academic session 2020-21. However, the self-financed programs that include, Master of Physiotherapy, Master of Social Works and MA in Psychology are not included in this fee waiver scheme.
