How to apply for admissions 2021 in FTII Pune for online course of Basic Digital Film Production

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune is a reputed academic institute under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Indian Government. The institute is looking for applications from eligible and interested candidates for the online basic course on digital film production under the faculty of Shri AS Kanal and Jayashree Kanal.

About the course

The course is aimed at those candidates who are interested to make films or want to know what is going on behind the screen. Through this course, you will be able to learn about each and every corner of digital film making! In addition to the technical and creative matters of film making, students will also learn various managerial skills to organize all shooting team members. Students will learn how a film is made through this course.



They will know about various subjects which are very much important for film production such as camera angles (T/P), movements, lenses, basic image sizes, lighting, scenes, shots, sequences, editing process, scripting, visual composition, dialogues, budgeting, sound design, director at work and many more! Two short films of 3 minutes each - 1 fiction and another non-fiction have to be made as a project at the end of the course. Candidates having at least 90% attendance will be provided an e-certificate after successful course completion. The mode of instruction in the class will be a mix of English and Hindi through the online platform of Google Classroom and Google Meet.

Date and timing of the classes

The online classes will be held from Monday to Friday for 5 weeks from 11th January to 12th February 2021 except 26th January i.e the duration of the course are 25 days. It will be organized from 11.00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants should be 12th standard HSC passed. However, in exceptional cases candidates passed in the 10th exam may also be considered. All candidates should be computer literate and they must be technologically capable to take online classes.
  2. Applicants must be born on or before 31st December 2002 i.e. age of the candidates should be 18 years at least

Number of available seats

The intake capacity of the course is 15. However, the course may not be organized in case the number of participants does not reach 12. Point to be noted that a first-come-first-served theory will be followed for the selection process. All selected participants will receive an e-mail to their registered e-mail id. Additionally, a list of selected candidates may also be published on the official website of FTII.

Fees

Indian nationals have to pay Rs. 29,500/- including GST and the foreigners including NRI, OCI and those who are staying outside the country presently have to deposit Rs. 88,500/- including GST as a course fee to take admission in 2021 FTII Basic Digital Film Production. All non-selected participants will receive the fees back within 7-10 days from the course commencement date but the fees deposited by any selected candidate will not be refunded, transferable or adjustable under any circumstances. Course fees should be deposited online through SBI collect along with the application form.



How to apply

  1. Visit at https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm or www.onlinesbi.com
  2. Click on "SB Collect" which is available at top left corner, 6th from left to right vertically
  3. Read the terms and click on the checkbox. Then click on "Proceed"
  4. Select "All India" against "State of Corporate / Institution" and "Educational Institutions" against "Type of Corporate/ Institution". Then click on "Go"
  5. Click on "Submit" after selecting "FTII Fees Account" against "Educational Institutions Name"
  6. Select "Basic Digital Film Production Course Online" against "Payment Category".
  7. Fill up the application form with authentic data and proceed for payment
  8. The payment page will be opened
  9. Deposit course fee as suits with you as per your present nationality
  10. Write down the "SBcollect Reference Number" as shown in payment confirmation receipt for further reference once payment of fees is deposited. Alternatively, you may also store soft copy of the receipt

Compulsorily required

All the candidates must have the following facilities to attend the online course
  • A desktop or laptop having at least 8 GB RAM and minimum 1.6 GHz processor (at least Intel i3)
  • Windows 7/8/10 or MAC OS Sierra or advanced operating system should be used
  • Latest versions of VLC player / Windows Media Player / Quick Time Player should be available as an audio-video software
  • Quality headphones/ earphones with mic
  • Quality HD webcam
  • Candidates should have a 5 GB internet pack with a minimum speed of 10 Mbps per day
  • DSLR should have auto focus in video mode / video camera
  • Candidates should have a video tripod
  • Applicants must be able to record audio on DSLR / video camera. Alternatively, an external recorder, external microphone with audio extension cable and a head phone are required
  • Editing software must be installed in the computer / laptop to edit cxercises / programs. Adobe Premiere Pro is preferred as an editing software. In case of inavailibility, DaVinci Resolve 12/14/16 may be used. It's a free software
  • Latest version of Google Chrome web browser is preferred. However, candidates may also use Firefox or Internet Explorer or Safari
  • Note: Candidates should not use a mobile phone or IPAD in place of computer/laptop.

Special notes

  • FTII uses "Google Classroom" generally as the online platform to organize the course. as such all participants should be familiarized with it before starting of the course. All the selected candidates will receive the login ID, password as well as all joining procedures to this online class through email
  • Check whether the configuration of your computer hardware supports the above editing software, whether the software is able to edit video files captured by your camera and whether a program like Adobe Audition is able to with this editing software
  • All shootings will be done in HD or SD mode only during this course




Last date of submission of application: All applicants must submit their online applications along with payment of fees by 6:00 p.m. IST on 21st December 2020. No application will be accepted beyond the due date.
