How to apply for Asian Development Bank student internship program 2020


Are you studying in a Master's or PhD degree and searching for a graduate or postgraduate internship in reputed banking organizations? Asian Development Bank (ADB) has released an official notification for internship opportunities for Graduates and post-graduates students. ADB has a diverse workforce of more than 60 countries. ADB believes in the sharing of knowledge and skills development. The ADB offers a project-oriented internship programme for Graduates and post-graduates students and engages them in their current research projects. So, the student will be benefited and gain research experience and understanding of the subject. Internship assignments are published twice a year by ADB. The ADB is calling applications for the internship from the highly motivated, straight-forward, and self-directed individuals. Through this internship programme, ADB also identifies the potential future staff.

Benefits to the Interns

Interns will get the several benefits during the internship program. They will find the opportunity to work in one of the leading international organizations in collaboration with the experts in their field. Knowledge, understanding of ADB's work and skill development will be done through research assignments of ADB.

Duration of Internship: A candidate can join the ADB internship for a minimum duration of 8 weeks and a maximum of 26 weeks.

Stipend: All the interns, who will be selected and join the assignment of ADB will receive a stipend according to the location. However, the stipend will be given up to 8 weeks' duration and beyond this period stipend will not be provided.

Eligibility for the Internship

The candidates who wish to join the ADB internship must fulfil the following criteria:
  1. The candidate must be enrolled in a Master degree program or PhD-level program in an institute of any ADB member country.
  2. He/she must be engaged in an academic study in the relevant field of ADB's work.
  3. The candidate must be a native of ADB's member country.
  4. The candidate should have a good command of English.
  5. He/she must have a relevant professional experience in the area of interest.

Application Procedure

  • The candidates who wish to get the internship of ADB must visit the official website of ADB and check the details carefully. The interested candidates who satisfy all the eligibility requirements must apply online directly through the ADB Career and Employment System (ACES). For this process, school registration and the nomination is no longer required.
  • Details of assignments for the internship are available at the website of ADB. The candidates may choose assignments of interest from the list.
  • Candidates applying for the internship must prepare a CV and also answer the essay question.
  • Both the documents including CV and essay must be ready while applying through ACES and are to be uploaded to complete the application.
  • It is advised that the candidates should submit their application well before the last day of application submission to avoid errors in internship application submission.

Note: The candidates must apply within the timeline of the application submission and application submitted after the due date will not be entertained.

Selection Process

For the selection of the interns, evaluation of the applications will be done by the ADB based on their:
  • Eligibility requirements
  • The relevance of the academic study
  • Work experience
  • The level of interest
  • Motivation to contribute to development work

  • Institutional representation
  • Gender
  • Nationality balance
