Knowledge Enhancement: Interns will gain knowledge of biodiversity conservation of threatened species and sustainable livelihood in Himalaya.
Stipend: During the internship period, the interns will be provided with a stipend (monthly or part-time basis) as per the UNDP policy. The stipend will cover the basic daily expenses, including food and transportation, etc.Duration of Internship
The expected duration of the internship will be 4 months. However, the UNDP accepts an internship for a period of a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months. Location of Internship: The intern will have to work in New Delhi, India.Project details
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India in collaboration of United Nations Development Programme and Global Environment Facility is implementing a project entitled "SECURE Himalaya -Securing livelihoods, conservation, sustainable use and restoration of high range Himalayan ecosystems." The project is implemented in four states, namely Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Union Territory of Ladakh."
The project has the following key components:Work assignments to the Interns
The Interns will work on the project under the supervision of Head, NRM and Biodiversity and SPO Uttarakhand, and will perform several tasks like energy audit report review and validation, guidance to the community mobilized in the verification of beneficiaries list, identification and finalization of the solution with local govt. and administration and other experts, preparation of energy-efficient concept plan, preparation of a plan for government scheme for an energy-efficient national park in Himalaya, development if implementation plan and 2 proposals for National adaptation fund for climate change, etc.Eligibility criteria
To apply for the internship of UNDP programme, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements: Educational qualification
Candidate must be enrolled in a bachelor's in Environmental Sciences/Engineering/Social sciences or any other related field. However, the candidate must have completed at least 2 years of the degree course. Preference will be given to the candidate having good knowledge and understanding of Hydrology. Besides, knowledge of tools like AutoCAD & MATLAB will be an asset.Skill Requirements
The candidate should have hands-on experience in MS Office i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. as well as working knowledge of web-based applications, FTIR analysis and tools. The candidate must be fluent in English.Other Requirements
The candidates must be willing to work collaboratively and must be interested in teamwork and learning. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
