Short-Term Internship Opportunity for Computer Science Students at ARIES, Uttarakhand

The Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences has released an official notification for the short-term internship under CSIP. Eligible candidates can apply for the internship. About ARIES
The Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) in Nainital, Uttarakhand is a premier institute in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Atmospheric Sciences and Engineering. It is an autonomous institute established under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. ARIES has currently announced the short-term computer science internship programme (CSIP) to engage the undergraduate and graduate students from the recognized University/ Institution within India.Roles & Responsibilities
The selected interns during the internship period will mostly be occupied in the work of institutes like Software Development and data management. They will be given challenges and asked to find their solutions, by applying their analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will be engaged in R&D activities in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Atmospheric Sciences, and Engineering. Students can access to various computing resources and computational software packages and open-source software such as BASH, C, C++, Drupal, Java, Linux, MySQL, PHP, Python, Python Django, Python Flask, Scilab, etc. and will participate in several short-term online courses. The interns can work on the following computing resources and computational programs in the areas of:Duration of Internship
The internship should be undertaken for a period of a minimum of 20 weeks and a maximum of 6 months. Please note that the Internship is not a job/ position in ARIES and the interns will not claim any job or a permanent position at ARIES. Number of Internships
At least 04 interns will be selected, however, the number of interns may vary depending upon the number of applications received. Benefits of the Internship Program
R&D Facilities: The interns will get an opportunity of exposure to the R&D facilities in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Atmospheric Sciences, and Engineering at a reputed institute.
Stipend: A stipend of Rs.10,000 per month will be paid to the selected Interns if no accommodation is provided. If Interns avail hostel facility, they will be paid Rs.5,000 per month.
Certificate: All the interns will be issued an experience certificate who will complete the internship successfully. The certificate will have the details of the projects that the Interns worked on during the Internship period. However, the candidates, those who will not be completing an internship for the requisite period, will not be issued any certificate.
Logistics & Support: Interns will have to carry their Laptops. However, other supports like working space, internet facility, access to the high-end servers required during the internship or as deemed fit by the concerned Project In-charges will be provided by the ARIES.

Step 2: Fill in the education and work details.
Step 3: Attach all the requisite enclosure and submit a declaration.
Step 4: Preview of the application.
Step 5: Submit the Application.Selection Process
Selection of the interns will be based on the performance in the online interview. The application will be screened and only shortlisted candidates will be called for the Interview. In the interview, the candidates will be asked about work-related and interpersonal abilities. The selected interns will be intimated about their selection through call letters. ARIES will also upload and display the list of selected candidates on its website.
Important Notes: In case of any deserving candidate, the power to relax some conditions might be with the Director, ARIES.Joining at ARIES
Selected students, called for joining at ARIES, will have to produce original mark sheets, certificates and other relevant documents at the time of joining. The candidature of the students, who cannot produce the required documents, will be cancelled.Termination of Internship
In case of any misconduct or breach of trust, poor performance or irregularity, the internship will be ended before the internship period. All termination rights are reserved with Director, ARIES. Important Dates

The State Observatory in Nainital was reincarnated in the year 2004 as Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Historically it was a place for research in Astronomy and astronomical topics.
