Eligibility criteria

  1. The candidates applying for admission to the PhD program at GU must possess a Master's degree in Engineering or Technology or Science or Business Administration or Pharmacy or Humanities or Social Science or Languages or Law or any relevant discipline from any recognized university or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency with at least 55% marks in aggregate or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
  2. There will be a relaxation of 5% of marks for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently abled and for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991as per the UGC Regulations.
  3. The candidates must have an outstanding academic track record.

Admission Process at GU

Galgotias University releases open advertisement for admission to PhD programmes twice in a year in December and May. Admission for December (Winter, Session 2020-21) is currently open. Official notification/advertisement containing courses and other relevant details is also available on the official website of Galgotias University.

Admission to PhD will be completed in two steps:

PhD Entrance Test (PET): A PhD entrance test will be conducted by the Controller of Examinations of the University (COE Office). The entrance test will be qualifying in nature, with qualifying marks as 50%. In the test question paper, 50% questions will be asked from the research methodology and 50% from the respective discipline. The entrance exam will be exempted for the candidates, those who have M.Phil degree through an entrance test, candidates already enrolled in PhD in another university through an entrance test and wish to transfer to GU, UGC-NET, GATE, UGC-CSIR NET qualified candidates and industry personnel having 10 years of experience or above.

Personal Interview (PI): After the entrance test, an interview will be conducted under the supervision of Dean PG & Research by respective School Deans along with School Research Committee (SRC).

How to Apply

Galgotias University, Greater Noida is offering PhD admission for which admission seeker can fill the application form online. They must visit the official website and check the admission page for detailed information. The online application for admission to PhD programmes can be filled in the following steps:
  • Registration: First, the candidate will have to register on the website. For registration, an email is required and the Email ID once submitted will be used for all correspondences until enrolment is completed. Please remember the request for a change in Email ID will not be entertained.
  • Email Verification: After registration, the email will be verified.
  • Fill the Application Form Online: in this step, the candidate will have to fill all the required details like personal, educational, etc.
  • Pay Application Fee: An application fee of Rs.1100/- has to be paid by the applicant.The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Submit Application: After filling all the details and fee payment, the application form must be submitted.

Galgotias University-Query Management System

Galgotias University has developed a Galgotias University Query Management System (GU-QMS) for a prompt response to the queries of the applicants.
