How to apply for NTA UGC-NET 2021

Introduction
UGC-NET is a national level exam conducted for determining the eligibility of lectureship and junior research fellowship. Before June 2018, the CBSE conducted the NET exam in 84 subjects across the country. Now, it is being conducted by the NTA on behalf of University grant commission. It is conducted twice a year June month and December month across major cities in India. The award of JRF and eligibility for assistant professor depends on the secured aggregate marks in the exam. Candidates doing master's degree or have appeared for the final exam and waiting for their result can also apply. Such candidates will be provisionally admitted and will be eligible for JRF. The candidate will have to qualify a master's degree with required percentage marks. Eligiblity criteria
Candidate should have minimum 55% marks in post-graduation or equivalent examination from UGC recognized universities/colleges in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, music etc. Candidates belonging to OBC non-creamy layer/SC/ST/ PWD category should have minimum 50% marks in master degree. For transgender candidates, qualifying criteria are similar to SC / ST / PWD percentage for being eligible of assistant professor. Candidate has to complete their master degree within 2 years of the declaration of UGC NET result.
Those candidates who having PhD degree and their master's exam was completed by 19th September 1992 will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks. Candidates can appear for NET Exam for the subject they have completed their post-graduation. If the subject is not available choose an equivalent subject.Age limit
There is no age limit for lecturership. For junior research fellowship, a candidate should not be more than 30 years of age as on 1 December 2020. Candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC- NCL, PWD category and women candidates will get age relaxation up to 5 years.How to apply
UGC-NET 2021 Application Form is expected to be released from the third week of March 2021 for June session. So, the candidate can fill their application form till the third week of May 2021 for June session. This examination is conducted twice every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA). An application form is released only through online mode. Candidates can fill their application form through online mode. Any offline mode will not be provided. Candidate has to fill all details carefully including educational, personal and communication etc. in the application form. Only one application form is allowed.
Candidates are required to fill exam city choices as per their preferences. Upload scanned documents i.e.
passport size photograph and signature in the JPG/ JPEG format is needed. Authority will give correction facility to the candidates in May 2021 for June and in October 2021 for December session.Application fee
The application fee can be paid through online mode only. Candidate can fill their application fee using debit card/ credit card/net banking or PAYTM. For General Category Candidates, General- EWS/ OBC – NCL and SC/ ST/ Transgender Category Candidates are to be paid 1000, 500 and 250 respectively. Exam Pattern
UGC NET is an online exam conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The exam is of objective-type and it consists of two paper- paper 1 & paper II. Both are mandatory for candidates to attempt questions from both the papers. This exam is conducted in both Hindi and English language. The exam duration is for three hours. Selection Process
Candidate has to score minimum marks in both the papers for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor. The candidates would be selected and declared as NET qualified for Assistant Professor is based on the top 15% candidates from each of the reservation category merit list with prescribed minimum marks.
As per the latest notification of NTA, only 6% of the appeared candidates will be eligible for Assistant Professor. There is a category wise reservation policy that will be applied to these 6% qualified candidates for the final UGC NET selection process. List of Important dates
