How to apply for Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program 2021 in French Higher Education Institutions

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs started the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship in January 1999 for foreign students from emerging countries. The Eiffel Scholarship program is aimed to attract highly talented foreign students to admit in French Schools of higher education institutions in their Master's and Doctoral courses. In this scholarship program, priority will be given to the students currently studying outside of France over those students already studying in France.

Purpose of the Scholarship Program

French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs allows French higher education institutions to enrol the best international students in their Master's and PhD programs and also support them by the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program. This scholarship program provides opportunities to the students from developing countries to study at Master's level and from developing and industrialized countries at the PhD level.

Components of Scholarship Program

  • The Master's component: Scholarship for Master's-level degree up to 12 to 36 months in France
  • The Doctoral component: Scholarship for Doctoral research up to 12 months in France

Details of Award

A monthly scholarship amount of approximately €1,181 (a maintenance allowance of €1,031 plus a stipend of €150) will be paid at Master's level and approximately €1,700 monthly at Doctoral level as of January 2021 will be provided under the Eiffel Scholarship which will cover round trip international airfare, travel expenses within France, local transport (up to €50 travel cost via taxi or public transport), expenses incurred for health insurance and cultural activities. However, the tuition fee will have to be paid by the candidate and is not covered under the Eiffel Scholarship. There will be a maximum of 40 number of scholarships.

Eligibility Requirements

Age Limit: The candidates must not be more than 25 years old for Master's level programs and 30 years old for Doctoral programs at the time of application submission. Only admitted candidates can apply for this scholarship.

Nationality: Non-French nationals are eligible to apply only. French nations or candidates having dual nationality out of which one is French will not be considered.

Education: The foreign candidates who are graduates and postgraduates and wish to enrol in the Master's and PhD programs of the French higher education institutions are eligible to apply.

Important Note:Candidates already awarded the Eiffel Scholarship at the Master's level can only reapply at a Doctoral level.
Applicants whose applications have already been rejected previously.

Application Procedure

Only applications submitted through French higher education institutions will be accepted for the scholarship program. French higher education institutions, who have already participated in the scholarship program, will receive an email concerning the download of application files. They shall select the best foreign applicants, who are enrolled in their academic programs for the Eiffel scholarships. Institutions shall submit suitable applications for the scholarship program. incomplete application will not be considered. The institutions who are participating for the first time in the Eiffel program must contact on the email id for application form: candidatures.eiffel@campusfrance.org. Students who wish to participate in the Eiffel program must contact on the same email Id. The soft copies of the document bearing the institution's seal and the signature of the head of the institution must be emailed to candidatures.eiffel@campusfrance.org.

Application Submission Timeline

Starting of the submission of the applications: Week of September 28, 2020
Closing date of applications by Campus France: January 8th 2021
Publication of results: Week of March 22, 2021
The decision date for those admitted and confirmed by the deadline: March 2021
The decision date for those admitted and confirmed after the deadline: March 2022
