WB Govt. WBBSE exam schedule 2021 for Class X Secondary (HS) Madhyamik Pariksha (MP)

Read this article to know the exam calendar of the Madhyamik examination for both, regular and external candidates.

A few days ago, WBCHSE had published the Uchcha Madhyamik exam routine 2021. Finally, the long-awaited exam dates of Madhyamik 2021 has been announced by WBBSE too. Although the exam dates of Madhymik Pariksha have been postponed like the HS exam due to the nation-wide spread of the coronavirus, the Secondary examination will be held prior to the Higher Secondary examination following the traditional schedule of each year. As all the schools were almost closed for the whole year, the board has also decided to reduce the exam syllabus of Madhyamik this year maintaining the same decision of the discarded syllabus of Uchcha Madhyamik.

Exam duration

The Madhyamik exam is generally held in February each year but considering the pandemic situation, WBBSE has decided to conduct it in the month of June this year. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has published the detailed subject-wise programs of the upcoming Secondary exam 2021 through their Memo no. EMU/C/35 dated 26.12.20 for both the regular and external examinees. The exam for one paper only will be held daily. The duration of the exam is of three hours, starting at 12:00 noon and ending at 03:00 p.m. The question paper will be given 15 minutes prior to the starting of the exam, that is, at 11:45 a.m. for students to read it only. Answer sheets will be circulated at 12:00 noon.

However, the duration of the theoretical exam for Computer Application, Music Vocal and Music Instrumental will be of two hours fifteen minutes. The date and venue of the practical exam for Music will be informed later. The practical exam will be held in Kolkata, Burdwan and North Bengal regions only. The practical exam of Computer Application will be conducted by individual schools. The theoretical exam of vocational subjects will be conducted for a duration of one hour and forty-five minutes. The Sector Skill Council/individual schools will organize the practical exam of vocational subjects. The sewing and needlework exam will be of a duration of four hours and fifteen minutes. The date and venue of typewriting and shorthand will be informed later. The exam of typewriting and shorthand will be held in Kolkata and Siliguri only.

The detailed routine of the Secondary Examination 2021 is as follows:
  1. 1st June 2021, Tuesday: 1st Languages (Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, Odia, Gujarati, Modern Tibetan, Gurmukhi (Punjabi), Tamil, Telegu and Santali)
  2. 2nd June 2021, Wednesday: 2nd Languages (English if the student selects any language other than English as 1st language and Bengali/Nepali if the student selects English as 1st language)
  3. 3rd June 2021, Thursday: Geography
  4. 5th June 2021, Saturday: History
  5. 7th June 2021, Monday: Mathematics
  6. 8th June 2021, Tuesday: Life Science
  7. 9th June 2021, Wednesday: Physical Science
  8. 10th June 2021, Thursday: Optional elective subjects

Note that the examination date of Physical Education and Social Service and Work Education will be published later by the board.
