How to apply online for High Security Number Plate and Sticker for your state

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India has made it mandatory to fit all the vehicles with High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) to capture vehicle details as well as to collect the toll at Expressways or Highways, without affecting the free flow of traffic. Vehicles are classified into following classes:

  1. Non-Transport Vehicles
  2. Transport vehicles
  3. Transport Vehicle under rent-a-cab
  4. Transport Vehicle under rent-a-cab (battery operated)
  5. Non- Transport Vehicle (battery operated)
  6. Transport Vehicle (battery operated)

Color coded third registration plate stickers are also required to be affixed on the inner side of the left corner of the windscreen of the vehicle. These are self-destructive chromium based hologram stickers and bears following details:
  1. Name of registering authority
  2. Registration number of the vehicle
  3. Laser branded Permanent Identification Number
  4. Date of first registration of the vehicle

Step by step procedure to register online at 'book my hsrp' or 'hsrphr'

  1. Login at www.bookmyhsrp.com or www.hsrphr.com
  2. Choose the desired option- High Security Registration Plate with color sticker (yellow colored background) and Only Color sticker (grey colored background).
  3. Enter vehicle information- vehicle registration state, registration number, Chassis No., Engine No., Front Laser Code and Rear Laser Code. (Let me know in the comment section below if you need help with any of these numbers or codes).

  4. Step 2 involves selection of fitment location. Select whether you want dealer appointment or need a home delivery for an additional charge for Rs. 250. hsrp 2
  5. Enter the pincode of the area where you are looking for a dealer or select the dealer from the list provided on the page.
  6. Select the appointment date and time slot from available slots.
  7. Confirm all the details, and select preferred payment method.

  8. Make payment. You will get the receipt of payment and appointment. You can either scan the QR code to download the receipt or take print out for the same.

Documents required

No specific documents are required for the booking of HSRP and/ or colour coded stickers. However, you need the following document while visiting for the attachment or affixation of the plate=
  1. Receipt of payment confirmation.
  2. RC of the vehicle.

What is the cost of HSRP and its installation

The price of High-Security Number Plate and its affixation charges depends upon the type of the vehicle, its make and its class. You will come to know about the charges while selecting the fitment location.

How to get an appointment

You can select the appointment time and location for the fitting of the number late on the vehicle according to your convenience. However, in case you miss the appointment date, you can re-schedule the appointment date to the next available date.

How to track order and check application status

Click on 'Track Your Order' button and enter your order number and vehicle registration no. You will receive a receipt on you registered email ID.

How to edit/ cancel the order

You can cancel the order within the time period of 24 hours from the booking of the order. Go to the 'Cancel Order' option and proceed accordingly. Any cancellation is not possible after the stipulated time period of 24 hours as High-Security Number Plate and Color Sticker would have been manufactured by then. The money will be refunded into your account within 3-4 working days if the payment is made through UPI. However, if the payment is made through a private bank or nationalized bank, then the amount of your refund will reflect in your account within 4-5 working days or 7-8 working days respectively.

There is no option to edit your order. Hence it is strongly advised to confirm your order carefully. If you need to edit an order, you can cancel the order within the stipulated time period and confirm it again carefully.

How to replace HSRP in case of any damage

It has been clearly stated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways via a notification that-
  • If the damage has occurred to one number plate of a two-wheeler vehicle, only damaged number plate will be replaced and money will be charged accordingly for one plate only (either front or read).
  • If the damage has occurred to one metal number plate and where 3rd registration plate/ sticker is applicable, single number plate, as well as 3rd registration plate/ sticker, will be replaced and payment will be charged for replaced metal plate and 3rd registration plate/ sticker.
  • If the damage has occurred to both metal number plates and where 3rd registration plate/ sticker is applicable, both number plates, as well as 3rd registration plate/ sticker, will be replaced and payment will be charged for replaced metal plates and 3rd registration plate/ sticker.
  • If the damage has been occurred only to the 3rd registration plate/ sticker, only damaged plate/ sticker will be replaced and charged accordingly.

What to do if registration plate is lost?

In case of lost/ theft of HSRP, the owner should immediately report to the nearest police station and file an FIR. Take a copy of the FIR and submit it to the Registration Plate Issuance Agency.

Important points

  • You cannot fit the plate through your own. You can only opt for home delivery for an additional charge of Rs. 250.
  • Affixation location, once selected, cannot be changed later.
  • In case you are registered under GST, you need to update the GST number while making payment. You will receive an invoice through email on your registered email ID.
  • In case you are facing trouble while making payment, enable 'pop-ups' on your browser and try again.
