Financial assistance to Students

  • No Tuition Fee: The tuition fee is exempted for PhD students.
  • Stipend: All the PhD students will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs.30,000 to cover their living cost for 5 years.
  • Start-up grant: In the first year, a start-up grant of Rs 60,000 will be paid to the PhD students for the purchase of software and hardware, etc.
  • Contingency grant: From second years onwards and till fifth year a contingency grant of Rs. 25,000 will be provided annually for the purchase of software and hardware, etc.
  • Post-Proposal stipend increment: Rs. 2,000 will be increased, i.e. stipend of Rs 32,000 per month will be paid.
  • HRA: Off-campus students will receive a monthly house rent allowance of Rs. 5000.
  • National Conference grants: Rs. 20,000 will be provided annually to attend the National Conference from 1st year to 5th year.
  • International Conference grants: Rs 2, 00,000 will be provided to attend the International conference over 5 years.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Candidates who wish to get admission in a PhD program at IIM Sirmaur must possess a Master's degree from a recognized university with at least 60% marks. Most importantly, candidates should have obtained a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% marks in the 10+2+3 pattern or they should have completed a 4 years (8 semesters) Bachelor's degree in 10+2+4 pattern with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA score.
  2. Candidates who have completed a 5-year Integrated Master's Degree in any discipline after 10+2 education with a minimum of 60% marks are also eligible to apply
  3. Candidates must have qualified from a professional exam like CA, ICWA, CS, with a minimum of 50% marks.
  4. Only candidates who have valid CAT 2019 & 2020 scores are eligible to apply for admission in PhD programmes for the session 2021 at IIM Sirmaur. Besides, the candidates who have qualified GRE or GATE or GMAT or JRF- UGC or CSIR exam in the last two years are also eligible for PhD admission 2021.

Application procedure

Eligible candidates who are interested to get admission in PhD programmes available at IIM Sirmaur must visit the official website of IIM Sirmaur and read the admission instructions carefully. Application forms for PhD admissions have to be filled online only. The application submitted through any other mode will not be considered.

An application fee of Rs. 1000/- should be paid along with the online application. First, the candidates must register themselves on the online portal. In the registration process, the candidate needs to fill in their Name, Email ID, Mobile Number and Password. The email id and mobile number provided in the registration form must be correct and valid because the institute will communicate all the admissions-related details only through SMS or email. After filling in all the details, click on the Register button. Upon successful registration, Login by clicking on the Login tab and fill in the registered Email-ID, Password in the respective sections and click on the Login button. After login, start filling the online application form.

While filling online application, the candidates are required to fill in all the requisite details such as personal details, educational qualification, standard test score details (CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/JRF/NET exam), employment history, experience, references, academic achievements, statement of purpose, etc. Besides, the payment of the application fee (as applicable) has to be done online. The candidates must upload a scanned copy of all the requisite documents wherever it has been asked for on the portal. Incomplete applications or applications with false or wrong details will be rejected.

Selection procedure

Selection of the candidates will be based on multiple parameters. This will include information provided in the application forms i.e. past academic performance, work experience and performance in CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/JRF/NET exam. The shortlisted candidates will be called for an area-specific written test and/ or interview at IIM Sirmaur. The candidates must have any of the valid test scores including CAT or GMAT or GRE or GATE or JRF or NET, etc. IIM Sirmaur admits the candidates to the respective courses by following the reservation policy of the Govt. of India.
