How to apply for DoMS IIT-Madras MBA program 2021-23 online admissions

Department of Management Studies (DoMS), Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), like the other seven IITs, is offering a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and is now accepting admission to the 2021-23 batch.

Established in 2004 at IIT-Madras, the Department of Management Studies (better known as DoMS) offers M.S. and PhD programs in addition to its MBA programs. Thanks to its well-established rapport and network with the corporate world, the academic sessions are enriched through direct interactions with well-known personalities in the industry. There are also active collaborations with national and international universities and DoMS scholars have bagged summer internships with prestigious institutes abroad.
IIT-M's Incubation Cell is an excellent platform for encouragement and support for innovation and entrepreneurship. There is the famous IIT-M Research Park as well, where superb research facilities are provided to scholars. Outside of academics, various Clubs provide interesting activities. There is a vast library and hostel accommodation is available for DoMS' students on a twin-sharing basis for both boys and girls.
About DoMS MBA program
The Master in Business Administration (MBA) program was launched at DoMS in 2001. It focuses on varied facets of management, intermingling an analytical approach with stimulating discussions and providing all-round personality development as well. Besides classroom academic lessons, you will be working on individual and group assignments, fieldwork and research, and attending management seminars and lectures by national and international Guest speakers.
The two-year MBA course is a full-time one divided into 7 quarters with four quarters in the first year and three in the next year, with each quarter approximately spanning 8 weeks. Analytical tools are effectively used and courses in systems management are offered along with those which are lab-oriented, that is, involving enterprise software. You can opt for electives in these areas in the second year of the program-
Hands-on industrial training is provided through a summer project for 8 to10 weeks after you have completed the courses of the fourth quarter. There is also mandatory project work during the seventh quarter of the MBA program. Compare it with SJMSOM-IIT Bombay MBA program.
Note: The Degree certificate that you acquire on successfully completing the MBA program at DoMS IIT-M will not mention the specialization.

It does not matter if you do not have work experience, as this is not a criterion to be eligible for the MBA program at DoMS II-M. College freshers who fulfill all the required eligibility criteria are also considered during the selection process. The eligibility criteria are as follows-For regular candidates
You should be a Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline from a recognized/reputed University with a min. of 60% marks in the qualifying degree exam. SC, ST, and PwD candidates should have a min. of 55% marks. A valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management is mandatory. However, if you are an IIT Graduate with a CGPA of 8 and above on 10, then you are exempted from the requirement of the CAT score.
Students who are currently in the final year can apply and get admission on a provisional basis till such time as they are able to produce the provisional certificate of completion, which must be within two months of joining the MBA program. Candidates with a professional qualification that is equivalent to a University degree recognized by the UGC can also apply.
For sponsored candidates
Candidates who are seeking admission to the MBA program as company-sponsored candidates must have a minimum work experience of two years in the sponsoring organization and a valid CAT score. The educational/professional qualification eligibility is the same as mentioned above for regular candidates. Note that sponsored candidates are expected to forward their application through the proper channel.For Defense Personnel
Personnel from the Defense Forces are not required to submit a CAT score and do not have to appear for the national level entrance test. However, they must apply through their respective government agencies. The educational qualification required is Graduation from a recognized university or a UGC-recognized equivalent qualification with min. 55% marks in the qualifying degree exam. For NRIs and Foreign Nationals
The educational qualification is the same as for regular candidates. Additionally, you must have a valid GMAT Score. Provisional admission will be given if you are pursuing your Degree in the final year, and final admission will be given on producing the required certificates of having completed the Degree course. It is also mandatory to submit copies of documents supporting your citizenship, these to be obtained from the Indian Embassy of the country where you are residing. How to apply
Applications should be submitted online at the DoMS IIT-M MBA admissions' page. In addition to the scanned passport size photo and signature, you need to scan and keep ready the following documents that must be uploaded for the online application process-
Application fee: Rs.1600/- for General and OBC candidates and for NRIs and foreign nationals; Rs. 800/- SC/ST/PwD candidates. This fee has to be paid online through Internet Banking or with a credit card or with a debit card. Selection process
Candidates will be shortlisted based on the composite score, for which weightage will be given to the CAT score, past academic performance, work experience (if any), academic diversity, and gender, As per Govt. of India norms, relaxation will be considered for all categories of candidates. The shortlisted candidates will be called for a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview(PI) (likely to be conducted virtually), and the final selection will be based on the scores of these combined with the composite score and other achievements. The dates of WAT/PI will be intimated to the candidates. The purpose of the PI is to assess academic knowledge, gauge your business awareness, and check your communication and other skills.
