Located in the campus of IIT-Jodhpur, the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) offers minor, degree, and doctoral levels programs. Infrastructure at SME includes academic and hostel blocks, a library, indoor and outdoor sports' facilities, a health centre, etc.
A Placement Committee oversees the on-campus recruitment process for summer internships as well as for Final Placements. It also arranges for Guest Lectures and industry interactions. There are other committees as well, such as one for sports, another to organize a BizFest that provides an opportunity for students from different B-schools to showcase their skills through competitive events, a cultural committee to organize dance, music and art programs, etc. An Entrepreneurship Cell encourages students to convert their ideas into reality and mentor them towards initiating their own ventures. There are lots of other fun things to do as well, such as in activities organized by the Quiz Club and the Adventure Club.
Students enrolled in the dual MBA program get an opportunity to study abroad at a top B-school. About SME IIT-Jodhpur MBA programs
Overview
For both, the MBA General program and the Tech-MBA programs, you will be taking up the same core courses in the first year. It is in the second year of each of these programs that you will have varied specializations and elective courses. There are 80 seats available for the 2021-23 batch, with five seats for international students.
The SME MBA Foundation Courses for the first year are: Organizational Behavior; Macroeconomic Environment of Business; Management Accounting; Statistics for Management; Decision Sciences-I; Managerial Economics; Marketing Management-I; Business Research Methods; Decision Sciences-II; Marketing Management-II; Global Economy; Business History; Managing Human Capital; Corporate Finance-I; Managing Digital Enterprises; Legal Aspects of Business; Strategy Formulation; Econometrics; Operations Management; Entrepreneurial Experiences; Strategy Execution; Corporate Finance-II; and Business Communication.
SME MBA Internships: As part of being involved with the social sector, there is a fieldwork-based Project during winters for a duration of four weeks, while the summer internship is in the corporate sector for a duration of eight weeks. Both internships are done under the guidance of experienced mentors.
SME MBA program
The two-year full-time residential program focuses on gaining management analytical skills that are both conventional and contemporary. The internships are in Non-Profit Organizations (NGO).
Areas of specialization: are Entrepreneurship, Finance, Operational Management, Human Capital, Marketing, and Strategy.
Credits: Total credits of 32, with minimum 16 Credits from the selected Elective domain + 10 credits for cross/other area courses + 3 credits for the MBA project + 3 credits for Non-Graded (NG) courses). SME Tech-MBA program
The two-year full-time residential program combines technology and management. You thus learn about how business models can be utilized effectively in aspects of digital economy; how something like Deep Learning and Big Data can be applied to the domain of, for example, supply chain analytics or cybersecurity, etc.
Credits: Total credits of 32, with 26 Credits for Tech electives + 3 credits for the MBA project + 3 credits for Non-Graded (NG) courses).Scholarships
The top 10 students on the basis of GPA score above 7.5, are eligible for scholarships of INR 25,000 each in every semester. SME also offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for EWS candidates, namely, top three EWS candidates will be awarded scholarships of INR 25,000 15,000 and 10,000 respectively every semester based on the GPA score above 7.5 in that semester.SME MBA Course fee
For domestic students
The fee for the MBA program for 2021-23 is approximately INR 8,00,000 for two years. The breakup is as follows – the first semester's fee is Rs.1.5 lakh + Rs.50,000/- for the Student Development Fund (SDF) [this is for activities of clubs, placement activities, a possible academic exchange program with an international institution, etc]. The fee for the second, third and fourth semester is Rs.2 lakh each. Note that there are separate fees for hostel accommodation and dining, and there may be extra semester fees towards certain institute overheads.For international students
The tuition fee per semester for the MBA Program 2021-23 is USD 3000 for students from SAARC countries and USD 5000 for students from Non-SAARC countries. There are additional fees towards institute overheads, hostel facilities and mess facility.
Eligibility requirements
For Indian students
Other than a valid CAT score, these are the eligibility criteria-
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor degree holders in any branch of Engineering, Computers Applications, Economics, Operations Research, Mathematics, and Statistics or similar are eligible to apply for the Tech-MBA program.
You must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent acquired through a minimum three-year academic program on completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. The qualifying Degree should be obtained from a UGC-recognized university and any qualification should be one recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. It is also necessary to have scored a min. of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or min. 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the qualifying degree. In the case of SC/ST/DAP (Differently Abled Person) candidates, it should be a min. of 55% marks or min. 5.50 on a 10-point scale.
In case you are appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification exam or have completed degree requirements and are awaiting the exam results, you are eligible to apply, but you submit the relevant certificates by the scheduled dates as required by SME.
NOC requirement: If you are currently working and you are getting sanctioned study leave, then you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer that they do not object for applying for a summer internship or campus placement in any other organization or, if so objecting, then clearly stating the restriction to undertake summer internship assignment and also join back with your employer.For international students
The eligibility requirements of educational qualifications are the same as stated above for domestic students, with the Degree (or equivalent) to be checked as an acceptable one by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Additionally, an international student must have a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of 650 and above in the last three years from the date of admissions at SME, IIT Jodhpur; over a reasonable minimum TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score (>90) OR The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)score (>7).How to apply
Register and fill up the online application form at the IIT-Jodhpur MBA admissions' website. You must also pay the online application fee (non-refundable). This is Rs. 1000/- for General, NC-OBC and EWS candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
During the online application process, you will be required to upload certain documents, including your photo, signature, relevant mark sheets and certificates, CAT-2020 scorecard, etc. So ensure that you scan and keep these ready before you start filling up the details. Important dates
