Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is one of the most sought after business schools in India. Apart from its regular degree-granting programmes, the institute offers a number of executive education programmes, attended by thousands of working professionals. The two-year weekend Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) is one such programme for working professionals. It is equivalent to the regular MBA degree programmes and is an endeavour by IIM Bangalore to provide quality management education to those who cannot attend the regular programmes. Reservation of seats is provided for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and PwD candidates as per the directive of the central government on reservations.
About the program
The PGPEM programme aims to deliver functional knowledge about the various management principles and to provide the participants with necessary practical exposure to such concepts. Those willing to take up additional responsibilities at their workplace and aspiring to climb up the corporate ladder will find this program extremely useful. The first year will focus more on general management principles. However, from the third semester onwards, the participants will get to choose from a rich array of electives that are tailored to suit the needs of each and every participant with respect to their skills and past work experience. The weekend MBA degree programme, launched in 1998, is meant for those working professionals who are in the mid or senior-level executive positions. The candidates should have four years of work experience after completing their graduate degree. The programme being a weekend one, is aptly suitable for those who have a regular job, as they do not have to take a break from their work for pursuing it. Even though this is a weekend programme, participants after graduating will be part of the regular IIMB Alumni Association.How the programme will be delivered
For pursuing the programme, the participants will have to attend weekend classes at the IIM Bangalore campus as per timing scheduled by the programme coordinators.Programme fee
The programme or the tuition fee for the entire duration of 2 years was INR19,00,000 for PGPEM 2020. For PGPEM 2021, the tuition fee is subject to revision.
The programme fee is to be paid in 8 instalments. Those who will need to continue beyond 2 years will have to pay a continuation fee of INR 25,000 per term, after the end of the 2 year period.
IIM Bangalore provides scholarship to deserving students. It also assists in arranging loans by tying up with different banks and financial institutions.Eligibility criteria
Those with Chartered accountant (CA) qualification after their 10+2 can also apply. For SC, ST and PwD candidates, the minimum requirement of marks is 45% or equivalent CGPA. It is to be noted that the work experience has to be a full-time one. Those with part-time work experience, apprenticeship or paid/unpaid internship will not be considered eligible for the programme.
Selection process
Selection of the candidates for this weekend two-year MBA programme is a two-stage process. The first stage comprises the entrance test, where the candidates have to appear for the IIMB Test. Those with a valid CAT/ GRE/ GMAT test score, however, need not appear for the IIMB Test. Based on the test scores, past academic performance and work experience duration, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview and a written ability test. Final selection of the candidates will be based on parameters like performance in the interview, written ability tests, academic record, work experience details, quality of such work experience and a few more.Important timelines
Except for the IIMB Test date, all other dates are tentative. The candidates will get to know the actual dates in due course of time. Shortlisted candidates will be issued with offer letters through email. The interviews will be at Bangalore itself.How to apply
Candidates interested to pursue the weekend PGPEM programme can apply in two ways. They could either submit their CAT/ GRE/ GMAT test scores or they may appear for the IIMB Test. It is to be noted that the candidates have to appear for any one among CAT/ GRE/ GMAT/ IIMB Test. For those seeking admission through CAT, have to apply using CAT 2020 test scores. For GMAT or GRE, the candidates should have appeared for those tests between January 19, 2016 to January 18, 2021.
If not appeared for any of the above three tests viz. CAT/ GRE/ GMAT, then the candidates can appear for the IIMB Test, which will be held online on February 07, 2021. While filling up the online application form, the candidates will have to mention clearly, which tests scores they will be using to apply for the PGPEM programme.
The online application form for applying for PGPEM can be accessed by visiting the IIM Bangalore official website. At the IIMB website, visit the PGPEM programme page and click on the tab that says 'Admission'. There you will find the link for the online application form. Click on it, and you will be led to the registration page. Register by giving all the necessary details including mobile number and email id.
Once registered, log in and fill up the application form by giving your academic and work experience details. While filling up the form, you will have to provide contact details of two reference persons either from your current employer or anyone else who is in a position to vouch for you. Apart from this, you will have to upload certain documents, details of which are given below.

Those candidates who will apply on the basis of CAT/ GRE/ GMAT scores have to pay an application fee of INR 1500. Others who will be taking the IIMB Test have to additionally pay a test fee of INR 1000 apart from the application fee.
