2021 University of Mumbai IDOL distance learning UG, PG courses online admissions


Are you looking for the admission notification for UG and PG Mumbai University correspondence courses of January to December 2021 IDOL? This article provides the complete list of courses with study materials offered by the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), University of Mumbai for the January 2021 session of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs through the distance learning mode. In September last year, University of Mumbai's Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) had released the schedule for admission to UG and PG course for the academic session 2020-21 (July session). Now IDOL has issued the notification for online admissions for January-2021 session for the academic session of January to December 2021. This is as per the circular of approval from UGC-DEB (Distance Education Bureau). Government scholarships are available for the programs for reserved categories, namely for SC, ST, OBC, VJ-NT and SBC students, but if the scholarship is not sanctioned by the Govt. of India, then the student is required to pay the entire fee.

It should be noted that only old students of IDOL who have taken admission for the academic year Jan-Dec 2020 are permitted to take provisional admission for the next higher class, provided they have appeared and passed/ATKT in that exam to be conducted from 21st January 2021. (First year Degree students will be admitted in the second year).



Schedule for admission Students keen on taking admission to the IDOL programs mentioned above should register online from 19th January 2021 up to 30th January 2021.

Jan-Dec 2021 IDOL programs

Undergraduate courses

  1. Semester I and II of F.Y.B.A. and F.Y.B.Com.
  2. S.Y.B.A., S.Y.B.Com.

Postgraduate courses

  1. Semester I and II of M.A. for History, Sociology, Economics, Politics, Marathi, Hindi and English.
  2. Semester I and II of M.Com. of the Choice Based Credit System (CBS) Semester Pattern, introduced from the academic year 2020-21.
  3. Part-II of M.A. for History, Sociology, Economics, Politics, Marathi, Hindi and English.
  4. Part-II of M.Com. of the Annual Pattern Scheme.
  5. Part-I and Part-II of M.A. (Education) of the Annual Pattern Scheme.




Eligibility requirements

In order to be eligible for the admission to F.Y.B.A. and F.Y.B.Com. programs, you must have passed H.S.C. (10+2) or an equivalent exam before 31st December 2020. Students who have passed in the supplementary exam are also eligible to take admission in this session.

In order to be eligible for the admission to S.Y.B.A. and S.Y.B.Com. programs, you must have passed or Allowed To Keep Terms (ATKT) in F.Y.B.A./F.Y.B.Com. exam before 31st December 2020.

In order to be eligible for the admission to Part-II of M.A./M.Education/M.Com., you must have passed in Part-I on or before the start of the Part-II exam. If you have failed or not appeared for the exam of Part-I, then also you are eligible for admission to Part-II with provisional admission and can appear for the Part-II exam only on passing the Part-I exam.

How to apply for University of Mumbai IDOL admissions

You need to register with a valid mobile number and email ID and complete the University of Mumbai IDOL online application form. Ensure that you provide accurate details of your address for communication purposes. Fees will be accepted through online mode only. The registration and application should be done with a valid email ID and mobile number as these will be required for later communication.

Before you start the online application process, keep these documents ready-
  1. A scanned copy of your photo, which should be in colour against a white background and passport size (minimum 72 to maximum 150 dpi and 45 mm high and 35 mm wide).
  2. A clear scanned copy of your signature against a white background.
  3. Scanned copies of the relevant mark sheets and certificates of the last qualifying exam. Make sure that you scan the original mark sheet (statement of marks) and the passing certificate as this will ensure clarity of the document.
  4. A scanned copy of the relevant reserved category certificate, if applicable.

Important note: If you are seeking admission on passing the required qualifying exam from a Board other than the Maharashtra State Board or from a University other than the University of Mumbai, then you are advised to obtain approval from IDOL Eligibility Unit before making the online payment. Academic session exam schedule

The exam for students who are admitted for the January session will be conducted tentatively in the month of November/December-2021 (Annual Pattern).

The first Semester exam for students who are admitted for the January session will be conducted tentatively in the month of March/April/May-2021; the second Semester exam will be conducted tentatively in the month of October/November/December-2021 (Semester Pattern).
