Indian National Science Academy Visiting Scientist Fellowship Program 2021 applications open


Are you searching for research Fellowships for Indian scientists and faculty? Indian National Science Academy (INSA) is accepting applications for its Visiting Scientist Fellowship Program for the year 2021-22. Details of the eligibility criteria, the value of the Fellowship award and the application procedure have been provided in this article.

Citizens of India are invited to apply for the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Visiting Fellowship program for 2021-22 through which you can conduct advanced research or undergo specialized training at various Indian research institutes or research labs.

About the INSA Fellowship

The INSA Fellowship is to enable individuals to enroll for specialized training in techniques that are related to a research project or take further steps in advancing a research work by collaborating with like-minded peers and make optimal use of the facilities that are provided at the research institute or lab where you wish to conduct the training/further research for the purpose. The location of the research institute or lab can be anywhere in India (not abroad).

Duration: You will be offered the Fellowship for not less than one month and only up to a maximum of six months.



INSA Fellowship Award value: You will be paid a consolidated amount of maximum Rs.30,000/- per month. This is towards boarding and lodging costs, travel expenses, etc.

Eligibility criteria

You must be a Scientist or on the Faculty of any Research & Development organization in India. This could also be a recognized university or an affiliated college. If you have received the INSA Visiting Fellowship in the last one year, then you are not eligible to apply for the 2021 Fellowship.

How to apply

Prior to submitting your application, it is advisable to first approach the host institute/lab and the scientist concerned to confirm that he/she will be accepting you for the research. The application should be submitted only in the prescribed form available at the INSA website.

The form should be downloaded and all details filled in completely. Two sets of the application must be sent through the proper channel to-

Along with the Biodata as per the prescribed proforma, you should also submit a brief account of your plan of work or study that will also focus on your achievements.



Selection procedure

Applications will be scrutinized by members of Science Promotion Committee in March or April. Their decision will be intimated to the applicants in April-May.

Last date to submit the application: 26th February 2021.
