SRMJEEE 2021 online exam for B.Tech admissions at SRM University

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, formerly SRM University, through a recent notification has started inviting applications from eligible candidates for its B.Tech programmes. The admission to the B.Tech programmes is through an entrance test, SRMJEEE that is conducted online by the university at the national level with centres all across the country. The important dates for application and conduct of the SRMJEEE are given below.



Important datelines


  • Online applications to close on – March 31, 2021
  • SRMJEEE exam date – First/ Second week of April 2021
  • Results to be published on – Last week of April 2021
  • Joint counseling – First/ Second week of May 2021

The application process is currently open. Aspiring candidates to apply before March 31, 2021. The dates for the online entrance exam and the publishing of results are tentative as of now. Candidates should keep a track of the updates as and when they are published on the SRM IST website. In case of any cancellation of the entrance exam due to the prevalent COVID situation, selection of the candidates for the various engineering programmes will be done on the basis of their 10+2 marks and JEE Main 2021 ranking.

Eligibility criteria

In general, the minimum eligibility criteria for admission at SRM Institute of Science and Technology are as follows.

  • Should have passed 10+2 or appearing for the same with physics and mathematics as the compulsory subjects. They should also have one of the subjects from chemistry/ biology/ biotechnology/ agriculture/ computer science/ IT/ informatics practices/ engineering graphics/ business studies.
  • The candidates should have an aggregate of 50% marks.
  • The qualification could be from CBSE, ISCE, International Baccalaureate(IB) or any state education board of India.
  • Candidates belonging to NRI/ PIO/ OCI category are also eligible to apply for SRMJEEE

It is to be noted by the candidates that the qualifying exam should have been passed in not more than 2 attempts, including, improvement appearances.

Following are the SRM IST campuses, where aspirants can seek admission through SRMJEEE.

  1. Chennai Main Campus – Kattankulathur (KTR)
  2. Chennai – Vadapalani (VDP)
  3. Chennai – Ramapuram (RMP)
  4. Ghaziabad (NCR)
  5. Sonepat – Haryana (HRN)
  6. Amravati - Andhra Pradesh (AMR)

SRMJEEE pattern

SRMJEEE will be held online on a computer-based platform. The test will be of two and a half hours in duration. For B.Tech candidates, the subjects that are part of the test are physics, chemistry, math, English and general aptitude. For Biotechnology candidates, math will be replaced by biology. The questions will be objective multiple choice type. The total marks for the test are 125 and the number of questions will also be 125, each of 1 mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.



Admission process

The selection of the candidates for the B.Tech programmes at the various campuses of SRM University is based on their performance in the entrance test. The qualifying candidates will be called for a counselling session, where they will be allotted with the campus and the branch based on their ranking in SRMJEEE. Candidates who have qualified the JEE Mains or SAT can directly apply for admission based on their All India Rank/ Test Score. Even such candidates will have to fulfil the criteria of minimum marks in the qualifying exam. For the B.Arch programme, the selections are based on the candidate's performance in NATA or JEE Mains Paper 2A.

For exceptionally talented students like those topping their respective central or state board exams, SRM IST provides them with direct admission as well as a generous scholarship. Those getting top 10,000 ranks in IITJEE, district toppers of Tamil Nadu and sportspersons representing at the national or international level are also accorded with the same privileges.

How to apply

To apply for the SRM Joint Entrance Exam the candidates will have to first register themselves at the SRM IST website. To register, they should have a valid email id and a mobile number. Once registered, the candidates will be able to log in to the website and fill up the online application form.

Among the information that has to be filled up are personal and academic details. A few relevant documents are also to be uploaded along with a passport size photograph and signature. The file size of the photograph and the signature should be less than 1 MB. The candidates can edit their application even after final submission, except for the email id and the mobile number.

The application fee is to be paid either through net banking, debit card or credit card. The application fee once paid is non-refundable.
