National Institute of Public Health Training & Research (NIPHTR) has announced admissions open for its regular and skill-based short-term courses in Mumbai, Maharashtra. SC and ST category candidates do not have to pay any tuition fees for the NIPHTR skill-based training programs. The fee for each course has been mentioned in this article, but it should be noted that there are expenses for travelling for any field visit that may be required as part of a course and these expenses will have to be paid by you.
For all the courses, the age criterion will be relaxed for SC and ST candidates based on the current Government norms. The selection of candidates for the regular courses will be on the basis of the scores in the Common Entrance Test (CET). The skill-based courses are offered as per the guidelines of the Minitry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
An in-service sponsored candidate who gets admission to the DHPE or the PGDCHC course can be provided hostel accommodation at the institute's campus in Panvel, Navi Mumbai. The hostel charge is Rs.500/- per month, with additional charges towards meals (confirm these charges before applying, as this may be updated later based on the prevailing rate for residential courses). However, no provision for accommodation will be provided by NIPHTR, Mumbai for those who obtain admission to skill-based training courses and they have to make their own arrangements for accommodation.
NIPHTR Regular Courses
Master of Public Health (MPH)
This is a two-year course for which there are 10 seats.
Eligibility-
Age: You should be at least 21 years of age (max. 45 years).
Educational Qualification: Graduate qualification in any of these fields – Medicine, AYUSH, Dentistry, Veterinary Sciences, Allied and Health Sciences, Life Sciences. Candidates who are Graduates in Statistics, Biostatistics, Demography, Population Studies, Nutrition, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, or Social Work are also eligible to apply for the MPH course.
Course fee: The total course fee for both years combined is Rs.80,000/-.Post Graduate Diploma In Hospital Management (PGDHM)
This is a one-year course for which there are 30 seats.
Eligibility-
Age: You should be at least 21 years of age.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University. It is desirable to have some relevant work experience in a hospital, but this is not mandatory. Also eligible to apply are-
Course fee: The total course fee for the two years combined is Rs.25,000/-.Post Graduate Diploma course in Community Health Care (PGDCHC)
This is a one-year course for which there are 30 seats.
Eligibility-
Age: Your age should not be over 40 years (age relaxation of five years will be given for SC and ST category candidates, and three years for OBC candidates).
Educational Qualification: You must be a Graduate from a UGC-recognized University. Those who have a degree in AYUSH, Allied Health Sciences, B. Sc. (Community Health), Nursing GNM, and those who are working as an AYUSH Practitioner, LHV, Staff Nurse, PHN will get preference during the selection process.
Fees-
Course fee for sponsored candidates: Rs.8000/- for both semesters combined.
Course fee for non-sponsored candidates: Rs.12,000/- for both semesters combined.
Diploma course in Health Promotion Education (DHPE)
This is a one-year course for which there are 30 seats.
Eligibility: Your age should not be over 40 years (age relaxation of five years will be given for SC and ST category candidates, and three years for OBC candidates) and must be a Graduate from a UGC-recognized University. Those having a degree in the field of AYUSH and Allied Health Sciences or Education or Welfare or Nursing or in any other paramedical field will be given preference.
Fees-
Course fee for sponsored candidates: Rs.8000/- for both semesters combined.
Course fee for non-sponsored candidates: Rs.12,000/- for both semesters combined.Skill-based courses
Sanitary Health Inspector
This is a 12-month course with 20 seats.
Eligibility: Your age should be between 18 and 30 years and you should have passed 10+2 with Science.
Course fee: Rs. 7500/- for the first semester and Rs. 6500/- for the second semester.Diabetes Educator
This course is of nine month's duration, with three months on campus and six months online. There are 20 seats.
Eligibility: You should be at least 22 years of age and have a Graduate qualification in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Pharmacology, or Occupational and Physiotherapy.
Course fee: Rs.4500/-.Home Health Aide
This course is of four months' duration for which there are 20 seats.
Eligibility: Your age should be between 18 and 30 years and you should have passed 10+2 with Science.
Course fee: Rs.5500/-.General Duty Assistant
This course is of six months' duration for which there are 20 seats.
Eligibility: Your age should be between 18 and 30 years and you should have passed 10+2 with Science.
Course fee: Rs. 7500/-.First Responder
This is only for four days, with 20 seats.
Eligibility: You should be a minimum of 18 years of age have passed at least Class 8.
Course fee: Rs. 1000/- (note that any fee towards field visits, study material and other requirements will be on the basis of the actual prevailing rates.)How to apply
Applications should be submitted in online mode only at the NIPHTR official website after registration with a valid email ID and mobile number. It is advisable to first go through the instructions provided for each individual course, as there is a list of documents that you need to scan and upload during the online application process as per the requirements of that particular course.
The application fee of Rs. 200/- can be paid online or in the form of a Demand Draft (DD) or a Banker's cheque, drawn in favour "Director, National Institute of Public Health Training & Research" payable at Mumbai either by Registered Post or by Speed Post (not by any other mode). SC and ST category candidates do not have to pay any application fee.
