The National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai which is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has announced admissions open for the academic year 2021-23 for all its postgraduate and doctoral programs. The programs offer a unique blend of engineering and management and NITIE is considered as one of the top Indian institutes for operations and supply chain management. Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE)

One of the oldest courses of NITIE, Mumbai launched in 1971, PGDIE is ideal for those with a strong technical background. You will acquire the knowledge and develop the managerial and digital skills required to effectively solve business problems. Data Science and Business Analytics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, HR and Marketing, Accounting and Finance, and many more areas are covered in the PGDIE curriculum. In addition to the core courses, you can select 10 electives.

Eligibility requirements: For admission to the 51st batch, you should be a Graduate in any branch of engineering or technology, with an aggregate of 60% marks. There is a 5% relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. You are also eligible to apply if you are a final engineering/technology student, provided you fulfill the other eligibility criteria and submit your qualifying exam results latest by 30th September 2021. You should also have a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score as of 15th June 2021.



Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM)

The goal of this professional management program is not to merely work towards developing you into an ace engineer, but also transforming you into a techno-manager who can work on associated technologies, maybe even create innovative new ones. The dynamic curriculum equips you with the skills to take up multiple roles in various domains, be it finance or marketing, supply chain management, or consulting.

Eligibility requirements: For admission to the 28th batch, the eligibility criteria are the same as for the PGDIE program. You should also have a valid CAT score.

Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Management (PGDSM)

The first program in India to get accreditation from the International Organization for Safety and Health (IOSH), the curriculum of the PGDSM factors in relevant ecological, social, and economic aspects to make you understand the context in which businesses should operate before implementing viable solutions. You also realize how safety management at the workplace and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) play key roles in the understanding of business strategies.

Eligibility requirements: For admission to the 21st batch, the eligibility criteria are the same as for the PGDIE program. You should also have a valid CAT/GATE/GRE/GMAT score.

Eligibility for Sponsored candidates: Candidates from a reputed industrial organization or a reputed academic institution with an aggregate of 60% in the Bachelor's Degree qualifying exam in any engineering or technology branch and having two years of full-time work experience as on the last date of submission of application can apply for the 5% seats reserved for sponsored candidates for PGDIE and PGDSM. Although a valid CAT score is not mandatory, they must appear for a written test and attend an interview to be conducted by the institute. Fellow (Doctoral) Programme (FP)

The Doctoral Level Fellowship Programme is recognized by the HRD Ministry, Govt. of India as equivalent to a Ph.D. of any University in India. The interdisciplinary nature of the program allows you to take up research in diverse areas, such as industrial engineering, project management, HR, environmental management, supply chain management, etc.

Eligibility requirements: You should have a sound academic background with a strong motivation to become a researcher at the national and international levels. Both regular and sponsored candidates can apply. On the academic front, if you are applying as a regular candidate, you should have a Master's Degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology, Management, Economics, Commerce, Social Science, Life Sciences, and Pure Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) from a recognized institution or university or CA/ ICWA and ACS. Those appearing for their final examination in the respective disciplines can also apply. Project or work experience in the afore-mentioned areas would be preferred. A valid score of GATE/CAT/NET-JRF will make you eligible for financial assistance if needed.

If you are applying as a sponsored candidate from the industry or academia, you should have the afore-mentioned qualification and at least two years of experience, and are required to produce a sponsorship certificate from your employer along with the completed Sponsorship Form that is available at the NITIE website. Note that as a sponsored candidate you will be required to stay on the campus for one year for credit requirements and no financial assistance is offered for such candidates.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted online at the official NITIE admissions portal. Relevant documents and mark sheets should be uploaded and the application fee should be paid online itself. The application fee is Rs.1000/- for Indian candidates (Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates), and USD 50 for international applicants.

Sponsored candidates and international applicants should read the instructions for applying that are provided on the official website. There are also certain documentary requirements for the Fellow Doctoral program, details of which are provided in the official brochure.

Important dates

For PGDIM the registrations have already closed on 1st March 2021 (you can make inquiries about late admissions if allowed).
For PGDIE, PGDSM, and the Doctoral program, registrations will close on 31st March 2021, at 5 p.m.
Online Personal Interview (PI) process for the PGDIM will be from 5th April to 9th April 2021.
Online Personal Interview (PI) process for the PGDIE and PGDSM will be from 26th April to 30th April 2021.
Online Written Test and PI process for the Doctoral program will be from 26th April to 30th April 2021.
The academic session begins in June 2021.
