Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad has announced the schedule to apply for CDFD RSP - I – 2021. Details of the eligibility requirements and the application procedure have been provided.
The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), an autonomous organization that receives financial support from the Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India invites applications for admission to the 2021 Research Scholars Program (RSP). The CDFD-RSP-I–2021 is scheduled to begin in August or September this year. The selection of about 10 to 20 research scholars will be on the basis of an entrance exam, followed by an interview.

CDFD is a highly reputed institute that gives DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics services alongside conducting research in disciplines related to Biology, including Genetics, Molecular Biology, Disease Biology, Computational Biology, Immunology, and Cell & Molecular Biology. The RSP is a full-time residential one and hence you are required to stay in the hostel accommodation provided by CDFD. The Wi-Fi-enabled campus has all the requisite facilities, including labs that are equipped with the most modern and sophisticated instruments of reputed international brands, such as microscopes, water baths, spectrometers, high-speed cell sorters, slide processors, imaging systems, etc.
Those admitted as Research Scholars will be encouraged to register under the Ph.D. program of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education or the Regional Centre for Biotechnology.Eligibility requirements
You must have a Master's degree from a recognized University/Institute in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture. Those with M.B.B.S qualification are also eligible to apply. If you are appearing for your final semester exam, then also you can apply and get provisional admission, submitting the valid mark sheets/certificate of the qualifying exam later as per the required schedule.
Admission is given for RSP through two streams as mentioned below-
You will be considered for admission through CDFD RPS-Stream 1 if you have appeared for the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) and if you are shortlisted, you can appear directly for the interview round of the selection process.
You will be considered for admission through CDFD RPS-Stream 2 on qualifying for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from any of the following-

Qualification through the BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) exam that is conducted by the DBT with fellowship or GATE (with an all-India top-50 rank in Biotechnology or Life Sciences or Chemistry) or qualification through any other similar exam with a Fellowship.
Those having MBBS qualifications do not have to appear for any of the eligibility tests but must be below the age of 28 years as of the last date for receipt of the application. Candidates will be short-listed based on a LAN-based exam, followed by an interview.
Important notes
Firstly, if you have qualified for any of the following, then you are not eligible to apply for the RSP-
Secondly, without a valid Fellowship, you are not eligible for pursuing a PhD at CDFD, and in case of awaiting the result of any Fellowship exam, then you must ideally update the status of the Fellowship prior to the entrance exam and mandatorily prior to the interview. Candidates without the Fellowship will not be permitted to appear for the interview.How to apply for CDFD-RSP
Register online and apply at CDFD - RSP - I – 2021 admission portal. Keep ready the relevant scanned documents for uploading during the online application procedure, including academic mark sheets and certificates, the date of birth certificate, reserved category certificates if applicable, photo, certificate of Fellowship, etc.Selection procedure
Candidates will have to appear for interviews via video conference (there may be more than one round of interviews) and shortlisting of candidates will be done on the basis of the entrance exam scores or JGEEBILS 2021 as applicable. Those who are appearing for the JGEEBILS-2021 exam should also appear for the CCMB/CDFD Joint Entrance Examination to be held via online mode in the last week of May 2021. CDFD will decide the cut-off scores for the shortlisting of candidates.
