Overview
The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) which has established and manages Eklaya Model Residential Schools in India under the aegis of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India is conducting a recruitment drive in association with the State Governments to appoint Principals, Vice-Principals and teaching staff. Accordingly, it has scheduled the EMRS-Teaching Staff Selection Exam-2021 which will be organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The initial notification was released in March, and now the complete details have been displayed as well on the official website.
Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) have been established to provide educational opportunities to children of Scheduled Tribes from the upper primary to the senior secondary level. While NESTS manages the schools at the central level, at the State level, State EMRS Societies were launched to manage the schools as per the guidelines of NESTS. The recruitment is open to eligible candidates having a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority of the State where the vacancy has been applied for.

Pay Matrix
For Principals: Level 12 (Rs. 78800 –209200/-).
For Vice-Principals: Level 10 (Rs. 56100-177500/-).
For Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs): Level 8 (Rs.47600-151100/-).
For Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs): Level 7 (Rs.44900 –142400/-).
Eligibility requirements for the vacancies
Principal vacancies
Age criteria as of 30th April 2021: Not more than 50 years (age relaxation permitted for SC/ST and others as per Central Govt. norms).
Academic Qualifications: Master's degree from a recognized university/ institute, and B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognized University.
Experience: You should be working in any Govt./Semi-Govt./Govt. recognized/CBSE-affiliated Sr. Secondary (10+2) schools/Inter College, holding an analogous post or should have 10 years of experience of teaching (PGT or TGT or holding a Vice-principal position) in a recognized high school/Higher secondary school/Senior Secondary School/Intermediate college.

Age criteria as of 30th April 2021: 45 years age limit (age relaxation permitted for SC/ST and others as per Central Govt. norms).
Academic Qualifications: Master's Degree from a recognized university/institution, and B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognized University.
Experience: You should have two years of experience as a PGT or lecturer at Level 8 (Rs.47600-151100) in Central/State Govt./Autonomous organization of Central/State Govt. It would also be desirable to have at least three years of experience in a fully residential school.
Language skills: Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English medium.PGT vacancies
Subjects- English, Hindi, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Biology, History, Geography, Commerce, and Information Technology.
Age criteria as of 30th April 2021: 40 years age limit (age relaxation permitted for SC/ST and others as per Central Govt. norms).
Academic Qualifications: Two Years Integrated Post Graduate Course from a Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject, with min. 50% marks in aggregate; or a Masters degree from a recognized university with min. 50% marks in aggregate in the relevant subject. Candidates should also have a B.Ed. qualification or equivalent degree from a recognized University (this is not applicable for PGT- IT vacancy).
Language skills: Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English medium.TGT vacancies
Subjects- English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Age criteria as of 30th April 2021: up to 35 years (age relaxation permitted for SC/ST and others as per Central Govt. norms).
Academic Qualifications: Four years integrated degree course of a Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject, with min. 50% marks in aggregate, or a Bachelor's Degree with min. 50% marks in the concerned subject/combination of subjects and in aggregate. Candidates should also have a B.Ed qualification or equivalent degree from a recognized University and must Pass in the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-II, conducted by CBSE. Note that a valid STET/CTET-Paper-II certificate is a mandatory requirement.
Language skills: Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English medium.
About EMRS-Teaching Staff Selection Exam-2021
The exam is of three hours' duration, with the first shift from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and the second shift from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exam centre will be indicated on the Admit Card. You can select any four cities of your choice as an exam centre when filling in the online application form.
Entry to the exam center will be from 7.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. for the first shift, and from 2 p.m. to 2.3p.m. for the second shift. You must report to the centre at least two hours before the start of the exam. It is advisable to go through the information bulletin to know what should be taken to the exam center, such as the Admit Card, a passport size photo, photo ID, etc.
The exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with a total of 160 marks comprising of objective-type questions, with the paper available in both English and Hindi. One mark will be awarded for a correct answer, and a negative marking of -0.25 will be deducted for an incorrect answer. No marks will be given for an unanswered question.
This will be followed by a personality test and/or interview as per requirement (40 marks). For the selection of TGTs, though, there will not be any personality test/interview, and the merit list will be prepared based solely on the CBT scores (total 180 marks).How to apply You must apply in online mode only with your email ID and mobile number at the NTA EMR Staff Selection Exam 2021 portal. Upload the necessary academic and other certificates, as applicable.
You are welcome to apply for more than one post if you fulfill the eligibility criteria but must then pay the required application fee separately for each post. The application fee for the post of Principal and Vice-Principal is Rs.2000/-, and for PGT and TGT vacancies, it is Rs.1500/-. This fee has to be paid online using SBI/Canara Bank/HDFC Bank/ICICI Bank/Paytm Payment Gateway through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories do not have to pay any fee.
On successful submission of the application, download, save and print a copy of the Confirmation Page of the Application Form, which will be generated by the system on successful payment of the fee. You will require this for future reference and communication. Note down the system-generated Application Number as well, and download and save the payment receipt.
