About IIT

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kharagpur), is a public technical and research university established in 1951 by the government of India, located in West Bengal. It was awarded the status of Institute of Eminence by the government of India in 2019. It is recognized as an institute of national importance which was declared by Lok sabha on 18 May 1956. IIT Kharagpur offers more than 50 courses across 58 streams. The motto of this institute is "Yoga is a skill in works" which was taken from Bhagavad Gita. It is spread over 8.7-square-kilometre (2,100-acre) campus and has about 22,000 residents. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur was set up in 1980. It is known as a reputed Institute all over the world for excellence in research and teaching.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur invites applications for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering junior Research Fellowship 2021 from BTech/BE degree holders. The candidate is required to work on the project titled, "Unrestricted Grant for Research in Review Mining(URR)".The selected fellows will receive a stipend of up to INR 31,000 per month.

Details of Fellowship

Project Name: "Unrestricted Grant for Research in Review Mining(URR).

Name of the Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

No. of Fellowships: One position

Duration: The chosen applicant will be appointed purely temporarily, initially for six months as a JRF that might be extended additionally based upon the candidate's performance.

Emoluments: Selected Junior Research Fellow will be paid a remuneration of Rs.31,000 per month (Consolidated) for the first 2 years. Thereafter, remuneration of Rs.35,000 per month(Consolidated) will be paid in the last year.

Eligibility criteria

  • Candidates must have a good academic record.

  • They must have scored at least 80% marks in Higher Secondary (12th) or equivalent.

  • They must possess a BE/BTech degree with a valid GATE/NET score, or ME/MTech in CS/CSE/IT or related specialization.

  • The candidate's age should not be more than 28 years.

Application Procedure

The candidates who wish to apply for the fellowship programme must visit the web site of the centre of computer science and engineering, IIT Kharagpur and read the guidelines carefully, and then apply on the online portal. Prepare the latest CV highlighting all the accomplishments and attach all the relevant documents. Details of at least one referee including Name, address, contact number and also e-mail address must be provided in the application. The candidates must send all these documents to the Principal Investigator on his/her email ID and the name of the project must be written in the subject line of the email. There is no application fee for applying.

Selection procedure

The selection of the candidates will be based on merit and performance in the interview. The application received by the due date will be screened and only shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. All the necessary arrangements to attend the interview will have to be done by the candidates as IIT will not pay any TA/DA for attending the interview.
