The National Institute of Ayurveda also known as NIA is a popular institution in our country. Ayurveda is one of the traditional medical systems in India to which not only Indians but foreigners too are attracted. So Ayurveda courses are gaining popularity day by day. For the year 2021-22, NIA Jaipur is inviting applications for the 3-year full-time Ph.D. Programmes for the below-mentioned categories:

  1. Category A: For a written entrance examination for Ph.D program admission in 14 Specialities
  2. Category B: For an interview of CSIR-NET /UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/AYUSH-NET qualified candidates

Selected candidates will be given stipends/research grants based on the terms and conditions mentioned in AYUSH Ph.D Fellowship scheme 2018.

Eligibility requirements

Candidates with an MD/MS degree in Ayurveda in the concerned subject from an institute recognized by CCIM are eligible to apply for Ph.D. (Ayurveda) programs conducted by NIA Jaipur. Also note that the PG degree should be completed by 31st May 2021, which is the closing date of the application. If you are already registered for any full-time programs in any other universities/institutions, then you are not eligible to apply for this Ph.D. program.

Entrance examination fees and mode of payment

  • Unreserved, OBC: Rs 3000/-
  • SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities(PwD): Rs 2500/-

Note: No other mode of payment other than IMPS/NEFT/RTGS will be accepted. IMPS/NEFT/RTGS Receipt of the submitted fees should be attached with the Application Form. Fees will not be refunded in any condition.

Admission brochure and application form

Candidates who wish to apply for the 2021-22 Ph.D(Ayurveda) programs in the National Institute of Ayurveda Jaipur can receive the application form and brochure from the institute website mentioned below. Eligible candidates should download the application form and submit a filled application form along with supporting documents and prescribed fees to the National Institute of Ayurveda before the last date mentioned below. You can send the application form by post, in person or through email. The details are given below.

  • By registered/speed post or in person: If candidates are selecting this option, then they can get the application form from the brochure http://www.nia.nic.in/pdf/Phd_2021_2022.pdf. Candidates should send the filled application form along with supporting documents and receipt of online payment to The Registrar, National Institute of Ayurveda Deemed to be University (Denovo) through registered/speed post or in person on or before the last date of form submission till 5:00 PM. They will not accept the application form received after the last date. So try to submit the form with the required documents on time
  • By email: Apart from the option mentioned above, candidates can also send the application form by email. Here candidates need to send the scanned copy of the filled-in application form along with all the required documents as a single pdf document on email phdentrance@nia.edu.in on or before the last date of form submission till 5:00 PM. They won't entertain separate pdf documents of a single candidate

Selection process

Mode of entrance test

Candidates who wish to apply for the category A Ph.D program in NIA Jaipur should appear for the entrance examination which consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). So on the examination day, candidates should bring the coloured or black & white printed copy of the admit card to the examination centre along with a valid photo Identity card(Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, Voter Card or other valid identity cards) for verification. These 90 minutes tests consist of 100 multiple choice questions covering 60 subject-specific questions with the competence of PG standard 25 questions from Research Methodology and Statistics, 10 questions from the general knowledge regarding AYUSH and 5 questions from basic working knowledge about computers. Also, each question will carry 1 mark and you will be given 1 mark for the right answer but there will be a deduction of half marks for each wrong answers. This test is a screening process and the final selection will be done only after the interview.

Mode of interview

At the time of the interview, candidates are required to bring the original copy of the filled application form physically along with the document copies. Although the interview will be conducted at NIA Jaipur, due to the current Covid 19 situation, there is a chance it will be conducted online. So candidates are advised to check the website as the final information regarding the interview will be posted there.

Important dates

Category A:
  • Closing date and time for submitting the application forms: 31 May 2021, 5:00 PM
  • Where to get the admit card?: From online registration account or registered email address of the candidate(date will be announced on the website)
  • Tentative date of entrance exam: June 2021
  • Centre of entrance exam: National Institute of Ayurveda Jaipur
  • Date of uploading answer key: One hour after the entrance exam is over
  • Date of submitting any grievances related to questions and answer key: Upto 6:00 PM on the entrance exam date
  • Date of announcing results: By 6:00 PM of the day following the entrance exam
  • Date of notification of final selected candidates: Next day of the interview




Category B:
  • Closing date and time for submitting application form: 15 May 2021, 5:00 PM
  • Tentative Date of Interview: 19 May 2021
  • Notification date of final selected candidates 20 May 2021

How to reach?

For a person travelling for the first time from outside Rajasthan to NIA Jaipur, the following information will be useful.

NIA is located at Madhav Vilas Palace, Amer Road, Jaipur, Rajasthan 3032002, India. If you are travelling by flights, then from Jaipur International Airport you can travel in a car via Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, or via Tonk Rd, or via NH21/NH248 to reach NIA Jaipur. It will take only 30 minutes to cover that 16 km. The closest railway station is Chandpole railway station, from which you can reach NIA Jaipur by car. You can travel via Hawa Mahal rd OR via Bramhpuri Rd/Gangori Bazar Rd OR via Chandpol Bazar Rd. Anyway, it takes only 10 minutes to cover that 6 km.
