Maharashtra and Goa State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professorship 2021 online applications
Want to apply for the position of Assistant Professor in a college or university in Maharashtra or Goa? Appearing for the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH-SET) is a mandatory requirement to be eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor in a university or affiliated college in Maharashtra and Goa. This article provides details about MH-SET 2021 to be conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University, including the eligibility criteria and application procedure.
Savitribai Phule Pune University has issued the official notification of the schedule for the 37th MH-SET, namely, the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (SET) through which candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in a university or affiliated college in Maharashtra as well as in the State of Goa. This exam is accredited by U.G.C. However, candidates who qualify through the SET must also fulfill other academic qualifications prescribed for the post as per UGC norms and will not be eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Also, as per UGC guidelines, SET-qualified candidates can apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/Colleges belonging to the same state whose SET Examination they have cleared.About Maharashtra State Eligibility Test
Savitribai Phule Pune University is conducting the MH-SET in 32 subjects under the faculties of Arts, Science, Mental Moral and Social Sciences, Commerce, Law, Management, Education and Physical Education at 15 selected city centers (the list of centers is provided later in this article). You can appear for only one subject and must appear for SET in the same subject as that of your Postgraduate Degree. In case the subject of your Postgraduate Degree is not covered in the list, then you are permitted to appear for a related subject as per UGC (NET) guidelines.

Age criteria: There is no upper age limit.
Qualification: You should have a recognized Postgraduate Degree in the same subject as the one that you are appearing for in SET.
SET qualification: Eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor will depend on the performance in both the papers of SET.
Important notes: Firstly, if have already qualified for SET in a subject, then you cannot again appear for SET in the same subject. Secondly, if you have passed M.Sc. by PPPR/Research, then you are not eligible for the SET. Thirdly, if you are from a reserved category from another State other than Maharashtra and Goa, then your application will be treated as an Open/General category, as per the reservation policy of the States of Maharashtra and Goa.
MH-SET Exam fee
The exam fee, including the processing fee, is as follows-
This is a non-refundable exam fee and should be paid through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net banking only.How to apply for MH-SET
You have to register with a valid e-mail I.D. and password and apply online at the official SET registration website. You have to also enter the number that appears on any Govt. identity document, such as PAN number or Aadhar number, or Voter ID, or Passport or Ration Card or Bank account.
Then proceed to fill in the details on the main application form and submit it, after which a unique application number will be generated. You can also check the details submitted in the online application through the preview button. Then upload the scanned documents of- (i) Passport size photo in JPG or JPEG format of maximum 50 kb; and (ii) Signature in JPG/ JPEG format of maximum 30 kb.
Next, pay the exam fee online (refer to exam fee details above). After a successful transaction, you can download the online application form, which consists of two pages, namely the application form details and the online payment transaction details. The printout is for your reference and future verification process if required, and should neither be sent to any coordinating center nor to the SET Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
After application
You must download the MH-SET Admit Card, which will be available online at the same website, 10 days prior to the date of the SET exam. You can enter your login ID and password to download the Admit card and take a printout (the Admit card will not be sent by post).
You must carry the Admit Card to the exam center, along with one additional photo identity, such as Aadhar Card, PAN card, Voter Id, etc. on the day of the exam.Important dates

Last date for payment of Online Fee through Credit Card/debit Card/Internet Banking: 10th June 2021.
Commencement of Correction in Online Application Form on the website: 11th June 2021.
Last date of correction/editing in Online Application Form on the website: 19th June 2021.
The list of candidates who have paid the SET exam fee on or before the last date will be displayed on the website tentatively in the last week of June 2021. In case your name is not on the list even after payment of fees, you can send a copy of the payment immediately via email to set-support@pun.unipune.ac.in.
Admit Card available for download: 16th September 2021.
