PhD (Science): For admission in PhD (Science), the candidates must hold a Master's degree in Sciences with subject Chemistry or Physics or Electronics or Geology or Applied Geology or Environmental Science or Biotechnology, etc.
They must have qualified for any national level test such as CSIR-JRF or UGC-NET-JRF or INSPIRE or other equivalent national fellowships and must have a valid fellowship.
PhD (Engineering): The candidates who wish to get admission in PhD (Engineering) programme must have a Master's degree in Engineering or Technology or MSc Tech. or equivalent degree in Mining or Chemical or Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Geology or Applied Geology or Engineering Geology or Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or Electronics or Instrumentation or Biotechnology or Fuel or Mineral Engineering. They must have a good academic record. A valid national level fellowship such as CSIR or UGC or GATE or equivalent national fellowship is also required.
A Master's degree in Mining or Mechanical or Electrical or Production or Civil or Instrumentation or Electronics or Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent with a good academic record who has secured Masters Degree admission based on valid CSIR-SRF or equivalent fellowship.
The candidates who are already employed at CSIR-CIMFR as CSIR Scientists (Group IV), Technical Staff (Group III), Research Fellows and Project Assistants will be eligible to apply for admission in PhD programmes as per the rules of AcSIR. Provided that they must work for a minimum period of one year and must satisfy the minimum eligibility qualifications. However, these candidates will have to submit a statement of purpose along with the recommendation of the proposed guide (with whom the candidate is undergoing project work and desires to undertake the thesis work) directly to the Coordinator of the Institute besides applying online form.

The candidates who wish to get admission in PhD at CSIR-CIMFR must visit the Official website of CSIR CIMFR and read the notification carefully before applying. The candidate must apply online either through the CSIR-CIMFR website or the AcSIR website (http://acsir.res.in). The application form will be filled in two steps that will include a Sign-up Phase and Online Application Form Phase.
In the Sign-up phase, first, the candidates will have to register themselves by visiting the website of AcSIR. Here, they will have to provide the details like Course, Student name, Father's name, address, State, City, Gender, Date of Birth, Country, Nationality, email, mobile, telephone, etc. and click on the 'Sign up button.' A registration confirmation email will be sent on the registered email ID of the candidate.
In the Online Application Form Phase, the candidates must log in to the online application portal using login credentials received on the registered email. They will have to fill in the requisite details in the online application form and submit the complete application form. Upon submission of the application form, an AcSIR application number (AAN) will be generated, which must be saved safely and printed. Selection Process
The selection of the candidates for admission to PhD programmes at CSIR-CIFMR will be done based on the Aptitude tests/Interviews. Only short-listed candidates will be called for the Aptitude tests/Interviews.
