CSIR-Unit for Research and Development of Information Products (URDIP) is offering a unique opportunity of a one-year Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Patinformatics (Patent Informatics) under the aegis of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). Online applications for admission are now open for 30 seats, up to 20th June 2021. Sponsored candidates from companies can also apply, provided they fulfill the requisite eligibility criteria. Other than the required educational qualification for the initial part of the application process, the final selection will be based on the performance in an online interview. The Post-Graduate Diploma in Patinformatics will be awarded to successful students by AcSIR.

What is Patent Informatics
CSIR-URDIP refers to Patent Informatics as "a science of analysing patent information which supports decision making in research, technology and business planning." It is beneficial in recognizing current technological trends, analyzing them, working on their patents and preventing infringement, as also helping a business to work towards profitable targets, assisting in data analysis of mergers and acquisitions, collaborations with others, and the like.
Duration
The Post Graduate Diploma in Patinformatics (PGD-Patent Informatics) is a full-time course of one year duration across two semesters. Currently, classes will be in online mode only, distributed over four quarters with 12 modules of theory classes and practical sessions wherein you will work on databases and analytical tools. You will also be given daily assignments and projects at the end of each quarter. For evaluation, you will appear for an exam at the end of the second quarter and then at the end of the fourth quarter, and present your reports as well.Course fee
The tuition fee for the complete course is Rs. 56,000/-. This can be paid in two installments, that is, Rs. 28,000/- per semester. The tuition fee for a sponsored candidate is Rs.1.12 Lakh which can be paid in two installments of Rs. 56,000/- per semester.Career scope

What you will learn

You should have any of the following academic qualifications from a recognized institution/university-
In the qualifying exam of the above programs, you should have scored a minimum of 60% marks. In the case of OBC and Physically handicapped candidates, the minimum percentage requirement at each degree is 55%, and 50% for SC and ST category candidates.How to apply
Online applications should be submitted at official CSIR-URDIP admissions portal after registration with a user ID and password.
Application fee: The application fee of Rs.1000/- is to be paid online in the CSIR-URDIP account. The fee is Rs.500/- for SC, ST, Physically handicapped and EWS candidates.
Documents required to be uploaded-
Note that in case you are waiting for the result of the Master's/Bachelor's Degree, you should enter RA (Result Awaited) in the space for the marks/ percentage of the qualifying exam.
On submission of the online application, an application number will be generated. This will indicate that your application has been submitted successfully. Note down the application number for future reference, and take a print of the final submitted online application. Do not send the printout or any documents via email or other means. It is not required to do so.Important dates
