About IITGN-ECF

Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhi Nagar (IITGN), located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, is a public engineering institute and also one of the Institute of National Importance declared by the Government of India. It is one of the eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2008. It has started Early-Career Fellowship for recent doctorates from all areas of Engineering, Sciences as well as Humanities and Social Sciences. The IIT Gandhinagar Early-Career Fellowship (IITGN-ECF) provide an opportunity to young scholar to work on exciting challenges and research problem in a creative and interdisciplinary ecosystem. It strives to empower exceptional scholars and thought leaders in their academic pursuits. It is designed to offer these possibilities and support young scholars in their pursuit of excellence.

Details of fellowship

Emoluments

The institute will provide INR 1,00,000 per month (Rs. 90,000/- per month plus Rs 10,000/- per month HRA). A professional development grant of up to INR 2 lakh per annum will be made available for supporting international travel to attend conferences, workshops, training programs, etc.

Duration

The IIT Gandhinagar Early-Career Fellowship (IITGN-ECF) program is for one year. It may be extended for the next year, depending on the fellow's performance.

Eligiblity criteria

  • Candidates who have obtained a doctoral degree from an institution in India after July 1, 2019, and those who have an outstanding academic track record are eligible to apply.

  • A candidate who have submitted their doctoral thesis or are expected to submit the thesis in the next 2-3 month.s

    How to Apply

    The candidate who wish to apply for the early career-Fellowship Programme and must visit the official website and submit the application to IITGN-ECF in the prescribed format available at the website and can be downloaded from there. Candidates interested to join early career Fellowship must identify a suitable mentor in their respective field and prepare a research proposal after consultation. The research proposal must be prepared on any relevant topic and must be submitted along with the application form. A duly filled application form along with a relevant document must be emailed at ecf@iitgn.ac.in. The application should be prepared in a pdf file and emailed to ecf@iitgn.ac.in.

    Documents to be annexed with the application

    1. A cover letter with a signature of the candidate.

    2. A detailed CV with biodata, academic details, professional experiences, and other pertinent information.

    3. Scanned copies of original certificates and testimonials. Provisional certificate to be attached in case the Ph.D. (or some other) degree has not been awarded.

    4. List of publications.

    5. A short research statement, not exceeding 2 pages.

    6. At least three recommendation letter

    Selection procedure

    The selection of ECF will be done through screening cum selection committee. The committee will review the proposal received. Evaluation of the proposals will be based on the quality, presentation, discussion. Besides, details of publications, academic records/recognitions etc. will also be taken into consideration for the selection of ECF.

    Commencement of online application: 31st May 2021.
    Last date to submit the online application: 18th June 2021.
