About program

National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh is a public technical university established in 2015. It is the 31st Institute among the chain of NITs started by the Government of India. The campus is located at Tadepalligudem town of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh with an area of 176 acres.s It is recognized as the Institute of National Importance and is a fully-funded Institute under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

NIT-AP has called for applications to its research programs for the next academic year 2021-22. The Institute also offers Ph.D. (both Full-time and Part-time) and M.S. (by Research) in all engineering branches and even in science and Humanities departments, viz., Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Management, and English.

Eligibility Requirement

Candidates seeking admission to the full-time NIT Andhra Pradesh PhD program and M.S(by research) program shall fulfil the following eligibility criteria. Candidates must have qualified in GATE or UGC/ CSIR-NET / UGC / INSPIRE in the relevant disciplines.

Engineering Department

The candidate must have a master's or MS (by research) degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant branch.

Candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA > 6.5/10 in UG and PG for general candidates. 5% relaxation will be provided to SC/ST/PWD category students.

Candidate should have qualified GATE or NET in relevant discipline.

Science & Humanities Department

The candidate must have master's degree in Maths, Physics, or Chemistry, or a relevant science field.

Candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (CGPA >= 6.5/10) in PG for candidates in the General/OBC category and a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (CGPA >= 6.0/10) in PG for SC/ST category.

Candidate should have qualified GATE or UGC/CSIR-NET in the relevant discipline.

Management Department

The candidate must have a Master's degree in a relevant branch of Management.

Candidate must have qualified for any one national levels test such as CSIR-UGC or UGC-NET-JRF or GATE or any other equivalent exam.

Candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% marks for General/OBC-NCL candidates or a CGPA of 6.5 on the 10-point scale and a minimum of 55% marks for SC/ST and PwD candidates or a CGPA of 6.0 on the 10-point scale.

M.S. Department (by Research)

Candidates should be working on a Regular basis in reputed research organizations/Academic Institutions/Industries with a minimum experience of two years.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record

How to Apply

The candidates who wish to apply for research programme must visit the NIT Andhra Pradesh Official website and read the instructions carefully before filling up the application form. The candidates will have to fill the application for the research programme of NIT-Ap online using the institute's online application portal. Fill in all the required documents as prescribed in the application form. And Pay the application form fee for each program only through SBI e-pay. Submit the online application form and keep a copy of the same for future references. Candidates have to forward the soft copy of the application form, fee payment receipt, and all the documents (merged into one file) to phdadmissions@nitandhra.ac.in. A separate application form has to be submitted for each program/department/school/ discipline.

Application Fee

The candidates have to submit an application fee along with the application form. The application fee has to be paid through SBI e-pay. Details of the application fee to be paid are as follows:
General/OBC Categories Candidates: Rs.1000/-
SC/ST/PwD Categories Candidates: Rs.500/-

Selection Procedure

Selection will be done based on the performance in the written test followed by an interview process. Candidates who have qualified for GATE/ CSIR NET/ UGC NET can directly appear for the interview process.
