About IISC Institute

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore is a public research university established in 1909 by the government of India. The campus of IISc Bangalore spread over 371 acres of land. It offers various UG and PG courses including BSc, MTech, and Ph.D. Apart from that, It offers three programs based on course work: Master of Technology (M Tech) , Master of design (M Des) and Master of Management (M Mgt). It is now offering an MTech program in Electronic Product Design.

Benefits of program

The Electronic Product Design is part of the "Special Manpower Development Programme" (SMDP) funded by MeiTY to give a direction towards entrepreneurship and self-reliance (AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan) in the design of the electronic product. The program is well-designed and is conducted on a semester basis. The objective is to build a strong foundation and develop the required skill set among the students in the field of Electronic Product Design & Technologies, Embedded Systems, Communication networks, Electronics and Information Technology, etc.

Eligiblity Criteria

All International candidates can apply for this programme.

Applicants must have a minimum of Second Class or equivalent in a bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Communication, Mechanical, Instrumentation or B.E./B.Tech equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institutions of Engineers), with a valid GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 score, are eligible to apply.

Candidate must possessBE /B Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline (with valid GATE or CEED) or B Des (with valid CEED) or B Arch (with valid GATE or CEED.

For joining this course candidate should have GATE paper which are as follows:-

Electronics and Communication (EC)

Electrical Engineering (EE)

Instrumentation (IN)

Mechanical (ME)

Relaxation would be given to SC/ST candidates in case of the minimum class prescribed in the qualifying examination is relaxed to'pass class'.

How to apply

Interested candidates can fill the application form online by visiting Official website of IISc Bangalore and read the instructions carefully before applying. The online application portal is already open and the application process is going on. To fill the application form, access the website and click Apply Online. First, the candidate must register on the portal and log in using login credentials. Thereafter, the application form must be filled with all required documents and submitted well before time. Pay the Application fee through Credit card/Debit Card/Net Banking. Upload the scanned images. Click on "Confirm to Submit". And Save the form in PDF Format. Check the admission portal for admission-related updates.

Application Fee

The candidates have to submit an application fee along with the application form. The application fee has to be paid online through a Credit card/Debit Card/Net Banking. Details of the application fee to be paid are as follows:
For General / OBC / EWS Categories Candidates: 800/-
For SC / ST / PwD (person with a disability) Categories candidates: 400/-

Selection procedure

Shortlist and selection will be based on a design aptitude test followed by an interview based on the GATE/ CEED score. Final Selection will be done based on 70% GATE / CEED score + 30% performance in online design aptitude test and interview.
