Base university is the abbreviation of Dr B.R Ambedkar School of Economics. It is one of the best training institutions in Economics located in Bengaluru. Dr B.R Ambedkar School of Economics is a Unitary University of Government of Karnataka in the field of Economics and Social Sciences vide notification no. ED 41 UVB 2018(P-2) dated 30 October 2019. It is registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 (Act No. 17 of 1960) Bengaluru. It has been set up for public benefit and its objectives are to provide a State of Art School of learning in Theoretical, Applied Economics and other Social Sciences.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Only Indian citizen can apply
  2. For Five-year Integrated M.Sc. Economics course: candidate should have completed 12th Std./ Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and Mathematics as a core subject and obtained a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate (60% for SC/ST category students).
  3. For a Two-year M.Sc. Economics programme: candidates should have completed B.Sc (Honours)/B.A (Honours) in Economics or B.Sc/ B.A in Economics with Mathematics and Statistics/Econometrics as major courses in the degree with a minimum of 55% (50% for SC/ST) in aggregate.


How to apply

The candidates who wish to join two-year Msc and five-year Integrated MSc programmes in economics at base university must visit the official website of the base university and read the instructions carefully before filling up the application form. The candidates will have to fill the application for the MSc programme online using the institute's online application portal. All the required details must be filled in the application form carefully and the complete application must be submitted along with the required documents. An acknowledgement email with an application number will be sent to the candidate's registered email ID upon successful submission of the online application. Please note that the candidates who are applying for the different programmes will have to fill separate application forms along with the separate fee for each application.

Application Fee:

The application fee is to be paid through the online mode only. The application fee is as follows:
  • For GM and OBC candidates: Rs.1000/-
  • For SC/ST and PWD candidates: Rs. 400/-


Admission Procedure

Admission to the BASE university will be based on the marks scored in all India entrance examinations conducted by IBPS and the existing reservation policy for SC/ST/OBCs.
