Eligibility Criteria

PhD Programmes

• The candidates who wish to get admission to the PhD programme of the IP University must possess a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent degree from any recognised college or institute or university. They must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an approved Assessment and Accreditation Agency.
• There will be a relaxation of 5% of marks for the students belonging to SC/ST/Differently Abled (PWD) categories. They must have a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
• The candidates who have appeared in the final year examination and their results are awaited are also eligible to apply.
• The candidate who has an M.Phil degree or whose M.Phil Dissertation has been evaluated but the viva-voce is pending can also apply for admission in PhD.
• The candidates who have qualified any national level test such as UGC-NET/UGC -JRF/UGC- CSIR JRF/ UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE / DBT-JRF / ICMR-JRF / Teacher fellowship holder will be exempted from the CET/PET conducted by the University for admission to the PhD programme.

M.Phil Programmes

• To be eligible for admission in the M.Phil programme, the candidate must have completed MA (English) or any equivalent degree from any recognised university or institute or college. The candidates must have got at least 55% in aggregates or equivalent grades. They will have to appear in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the IPU.
• At IPU, 50% of seats are reserved for the MA(English) students of the University School of Humanities and Social Sciences. These candidates will have to register themselves for CET but need not appear in the exam as their admission will be done based on the merit prepared on the basis.
• The admission to these seats shall be based on the merit of the applicant's cumulative performance index (CPI) obtained in the qualifying degree. They must keep the CET registration slip and admit card as candidature proof for admission. But this benefit is only for that candidate who has secured a minimum of 60% marks and has obtained their qualifying degree only in 2021.
