The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities
The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities is established in 1943 as a rehabilitation service center to the soldiers and sailors who are blinded in World War II. The Government of India took over the establishment and made it a training center for visually handicapped persons at a later point of time. It originated as St.Dunstan's Hostel for the War-blinded establishment and then was further upgraded as the institution for the visually handicapped during the year 1979. The headquarters of NIEPVD is at Dehradun. One of the regional centers is situated at Chennai and two of them are at Kolkata and Secunderabad.Departments / Facilities
