How to withdraw from JEE Main 2021 and apply for refund
Are you planning to withdraw from the upcoming August session of JEE Main 2021? Here are the step by step instructions to withdraw from JEE Main entrance exam.
My son had registered and paid the fees for all 4 sessions of JEE Main Examination. However, we decided not to attempt the last session, which is the August session of JEE Main 2021. There is a refund process available which we wanted to take advantage of. However, we found out that there is no direct link available on the JEE website to apply for a refund. A Google search showed me that several websites have reproduced almost the same steps from each other with no clarity on the JEE Main application withdrawal and refund process. After spending quite some time, I figured out how to withdraw from the exam and receive a refund.
Below is the step by step instructions to log in to JEE / NTA website and apply for refund:Step by step instructions to withdraw from JEE Examination and apply for refund
Step1: Go to JEE NTA website at https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/
Step 2: Look for the link "Registration/correction for Session-4 of JEE (Main) 2021"
Step 3: Login using your JEE application credentials
Step 4: Locate the "Correction in Application Form" link at the bottom of the page
Step 5: Read instructions and accept the terms. Click the button to proceed to the next step.
Step 6: In the next screen, you will see the complete application data of your ward. In my case, my son's admission data was displayed along with the list of all sessions I had applied. In order to initiate the withdrawal process from the session, I had to uncheck the checkbox corresponding to the upcoming session. There are no visible indicators on the page that says this is the process. But I learnt it by doing it for my son. Even after unchecking the upcoming JEE exam session, you will not see any messages indicating you will be withdrawn from the examination and will be eligible for the refund. But just uncheck the session and proceed.
Step 7: You will see a popup prompting you to review and confirm the data. Close the Popup after carefully reading the message.
Step 8: In the next screen you have to check each checkbox after reviewing the corresponding sections in the application form. Since you are applying for a refund, the rest of the fields are not really important. All you have to do is, make sure you are applying for the correct session and check each of the checkboxes to assure yourself that you have carefully reviewed the entire application form.
Step 9: There is one more confirmation screen. Click "Yes" to proceed.
Step 10: You are all set. Even though there is no confirmation on the screen about your withdrawal and refund for the JEE Main application, the process to be done from your side is complete.
Now, go back and check your registered email. You would have received a confirmation email with the subject "Withdraw Exam Session - JEE(Main) 2021" regarding your withdrawal from JEE Main examination. Check the screenshot that shows the confirmation I received after the withdrawal of the JEE Main application for my son from the upcoming JEE Session.
If you don't see the email in your inbox, check your spam folder as well. Also, in some cases, it might take a few minutes to receive the confirmation email. Just in case you are curious to see the content of the email I received after I withdrew from the JEE Main examination for my son. here it is:
