About JNV schools

Under the 1986 National Policy of Education Policy, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas were established by the Central Govt. across India (except in Tamil Nadu). These residential schools are under the management of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, which is an autonomous organization. Separate accommodation is provided for boys and girls and all the JNVs have the requisite infrastructure and encourage students to participate in co-curricular activities include sports and games, yoga, Scouts & Guides, etc. Through a unique cultural-exchange migration scheme, students study for a year in a JNV in another region. Every year, JNV students have shone on the academic front, qualifying for prestigious competitive exams, including JEE and NEET.

Girl students and those whose family income is below the poverty line (BPL category) are also exempted. Students whose parents are Govt. Employees should contact the school or check the JNV website to know about the fee they need to pay.
