The DBT-NIAB campus is spread over an area of 100–acres located at Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It is an autonomous institution set up by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. Institute is mainly working in the field of animal health and productivity and human-animal interface. The main focus research areas are Animal Genetics and Genomics, Bioinformatics, Infectious Diseases, Nutrition Enrichment, Reproductive Biotechnology and Transgenic Technology. Institute has top-class research infrastructure and well-equipped labs with all modern facilities. Students are given opportunities to develop scientific research skills in the field of animal biotechnology. They will work under the supervision of eminent faculties and will get trained in various advanced biotechnological tools and techniques. The candidates who are desirous to join PhD in Animal Biotechnology at the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) must have held a degree in M.Sc. or M.Tech. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or MBBS or B.Tech. in any relevant branch of Life Science.
Candidates must have qualified for any national-level fellowship examination such as CSIR-NET-JRF/UGC-NET-JRF/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE /UGC-RGNF etc. The fellowship period must be of 5 years' duration. Candidates must note that those who have qualified only for GATE, MPAT or other certification exams will not be eligible.
The terms and conditions and the amount of the fellowship shall be determined by the awarding agency and subject to the Institute's rules and regulations.How to Apply
The eligible candidates seeking admission in Ph.D. program must visit the official website of National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, Hyderabad and read the official notification carefully before applying. The candidates who are applying for the first time at NIAB must register themselves by entering their user name, email ID and password. After creating an account, the candidate can log in using login credentials. The selection of the candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program will be based on an interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an online interview that will be held through video conferencing. The interviews will be held for two days in multiple rounds. The candidates should be available for more than one round of interviews.
The candidates are suggested to check the profiles of the faculties and their research areas and vacant seats (available on the website of NIAB and a link is also provided at the end of this article). After the interview, students will be given the option of making a preference list of lab and research areas of interest in which they are interested to work at NIAB. Important Dates
