Eligibility Criteria

Ph.D.(Sciences)

• The candidates who are wishing to join Ph.D. (Sciences), must possess a Master's degree in Science or equivalent degree.
• They must have qualified for the National level fellowship examination such as CSIR-JRF or CSIR-SRF or UGC-JRF or UGC-SR or DBT or DST or INSPIRE or RGNF and should have a valid certificate.
• The applicants who are working as Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows, Group-IV Scientists, and Group-III Technical Staff of CSIR are also eligible to apply as per relevant AcSIR rules.

Sponsored Ph.D.(Sciences)

• The candidates who are already employed can join as Sponsored Ph.D. (Sciences). They must possess a Master's degree in Science or equivalent degree.
• Besides, they will have to take consent from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during their Ph.D. program.

Ph.D. (Engineering) and Sponsored Ph.D. (Engineering)

• For Ph.D. (Engineering), the candidates must hold a Master's degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or four or five-year science degree or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree or any other equivalent degree.
• They must have a valid national-level fellowship such as NET-JRF acceptable at CSIR institutes.
  OR
  The candidate should meet all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-SRF.
  OR
  The candidate should meet all the conditions for the award of the INSPIRE fellowship i.e. the first ranker in the university and must be getting INSPIRE fellowship.
  OR
  In the case of Project Assistants, applicants should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR to register for a Ph.D.
  OR
  In the case of industry-sponsored students, they should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR to register for a Ph.D.
• The applicants who are working as Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows, Group-IV Scientists and Group-III Technical Staff of CSIR are also eligible to apply as per relevant AcSIR rules.

IDDP (Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D) Program

• The candidates, who are desirous to join IDDP program, must have a 4-year undergraduate degree in Engineering such as B.E. or B.Tech. or B.S. or a five-year degree in Science, or any equivalent degree.
• They must have a valid national-level fellowship such as NET-JRF acceptable at CSIR institutes.
  OR
  The candidate should meet all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-GATE-JRF.
  OR
  The candidate should meet all the conditions for the award of the INSPIRE fellowship i.e. the first ranker in the university and must be getting INSPIRE fellowship.
  OR
  In the case of Project Assistants, applicants should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR to register for a Ph.D.
  OR
  In the case of industry-sponsored students, they should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR to register for a Ph.D.

• Industry-sponsored students must provide an endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes to which they are associated stating the consent for required academic leave and financial support during Ph.D. program.

How to Apply

1. The new user of the AcSIR portal needs to first sign-up and create his/her account on the portal. An applicant can Sign up by providing basic details such as name as per high school mark sheet, father's name, gender, category, Date of Birth, Nationality, Phone, mobile number and email ID, communication address, etc. Currently, applications are being accepted for the session in January 2022 and August 2022. During the sign-up process, the candidates need to select the session and the course for which they want to apply. After submitting details, a verification link will be recie=ved on the registered email ID that needs to be verified. A candidate needs to sign-up separately for a separate program and need to file separate applications. The candidates who already have an account at AcSIR can log in to the portal using login credentials.
2. Upon successful sign-up, the candidate will have to fill the online application form available at the admission portal. After completion of the application form, an AcSIR application number (AAN) will be generated. The candidates must note this number carefully for future correspondence with AcSIR. Further, an acknowledgment slip/ admission receipt containing AcSIR Application Number (AAN) will also be generated that should be saved and printed.
