A comparison between AUCE(A) and JNTUKCE(A) Andhra Pradesh for Engineering courses
A.U. College of Engineering, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam [AUCE(A)] and University College of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada [JNTUCEK(A)] are two very well established and old colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Both are very popular among the students who want to join for their engineering degree in a reputed institute. A comparison has been made between these two colleges in this article.
Introduction:
The state of Andhra Pradesh is one of the leading states in producing many engineers. As per the statics that is available many students from this state are admitted to IITs and NITs after their intermediate. The state encouraged the establishment of many private engineering colleges and private universities.
Andhra University is the oldest university in the state under the State government. The university is having a well-established engineering college which is having autonomous status. The Andhra University college of engineering (Autonomous) [AUCE(A)] is one of the popular destinations for students who want to graduate from a standard institute.
University College of Engineering,Jawaharlal Nehru Technological university Kakinada [JNTUCEK(A)] is also one of the oldest colleges in the state under the State technical education board. The college has been elevated to a university level and Engineering college is one of the constituents in the campus with an autonomous status.
Both are government institutes and fees, reservations and other rules and regulations will be as per the state government that is applicable from time to time. A comparison of various features of these two colleges has been made and a summary has been given in this article.The Institutes:
AUCE( A): This college is located on the north campus of Andhra University. The college and its facilities are established in a spacious area of 160 acres with green trees around and everywhere. There is a library, cyber lab, placement cell, anti-ragging committee and a separate cell for helping the differently-abled students. The college is established in the year 1933 and this separate campus was established in the year 1955.
JNTUKCE(A): JNTU College of Engineering was a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru technological university, Hyderabad, but later on, it was divided into three Universities and the engineering college of Kakinada has been named Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada. The university is on a spacious campus with well-designed buildings and mango gardens They have a placement cell to guide the students. The laboratories are well equipped with modern equipment and the students will be given hands-on training to work on these instruments. NIRF Ranking:
NIRF ranking of AUCE(A) is 74 and the same that of JNTUKCE(A) is 123.

The Score obtained by AUCE(A) in the Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) is 64.44 and the score of the JNTUK, CE is 58.68. The scores in the Research and Professional Practice (RP) are 9.72 and 4.18. The scores in the Graduation Outcomes (GO) section are 26.07 and 25,98. The scores in the Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) section are 59.98 and 57.31. In the section of the Peer Perception (PR) the score is 4,23 for both institutes. Academics:
AUCE(A) is offering about17 UG and 35 PG programmes in various branches of engineering and technology. The college is also offering a PG course in Applied Chemistry and an integrated 5 years M.SC chemistry course. The college is having research scholars in almost all the departments and working on different projects for their PhDs.
JNTUKCE(A) is offering under graduation and PG courses in 5 important branches. The college is offering an MCA program also. The college is also having PhD programs in all 5 departments and scholars are working on different projects.
The admissions for both the institution will be carried out based on the rank obtained in the EAMCET Examination conducted by the State. The admissions for PG will be on the basis of scores obtained in GATE. Accreditations:
AUCE(A): All the courses are having UGC approvals. The college is accredited by NAAC with an A grade and the college is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
JNTUKCE(A): All the courses offered by this college are also having UGC approval and the college is accredited but NAAC with an A grade. Faculty:
Both the colleges are having qualified and experienced staff. Many of them are PhDs and some are working for their PhDs while working under a qualification improvement Programme. There are support staff in all the laboratories and workshops to help them in teaching the students while they are trained in the laboratories. Research activities:
Many of the teachers in AUCE(A) are working on various projects that are funded by various agencies and they are undertaking some investigation works also offered by various industries in and around the state.
JNTUKCE(A) is also having some projects under MHRD and AICTE schemes. Their labs are fully equipped and the faculty is encouraging the students to carry out research in almost all the departments.Industry interaction:
AUCE(A) is having good relations with the research organisation in and around Visakhapatnam and they obtained many projects from these industries.
JNTUKCE(A) is having facilities in their labs to undertake works from the industries around Kakinada.Placement services:
Both the colleges are having placement cells and they help the students of the institution in getting posted in reputed companies within the country. IT companies like Infosys, TCS etc will be conducting campus interviews for selecting students for placement in their organization.Library:
Both the institutes are having very good libraries in the colleges and all important and necessary reference books, journals and library facilities are available. Both the colleges are in government sector and established well as good institutions and train the students well. As far as the placements are concerned the JNTUK is having more companies coming to their campus and students are getting selected by various reputed industries. In AUCEA the number of industries coming is less but the chemical engineering department of the college is attracting many industries.
By seeing the NIRF ranking we can understand that AUCEA is having better amenities and facilities for the development of students. Both the organisations are having good faculty.
By seeing various student reviews and the admission history one can understand that JNTUKCEA is preferred over AUCEA as the college is having a better campus placement history
